Jordan's POV:
Weight room time is both my favorite and least favorite part of practices. I know I get a lot out of drylands and lifting, but everyone always lifts more than me. I'm spotting Kai as he squats about 350 pounds. Or I guess 159 Kilograms: Something like that. This whole metric system thing is hard to get used to.
Kai finishes his reps, racking the bar without needing my help. He looks up at me with a nervous expression. Subconsciously, I've been glaring at him this whole time. It's not like he doesn't deserve it.
"W-What's that look for?" he asks with concerned eyes. I swear I can hear Angel and Vex snickering from the rack next to us.
"Nothing," I huff, crossing my arms over my chest.
He sighs, giving this happens every time he's gotten used to it. He goes to take off the majority of the weights from the bar, but I stop him.
"Don't take those off. I wanna try."
The entire room goes silent. The faint sound of crickets can be heard from the outside. Well, the windows are open, so that isn't saying all that much. Coach almost falls off the box when he hears me.
"Hm... I don't think that's a good idea, Jordan," Kai says, fiddling with his fingers.
I send him a smoldering glare, one I'd only give my arch enemy, "What? Do you think I'm too weak?" I ask, knowing that no matter how he answers, it's going to be wrong.
"No, No, of course not," he says without hesitation, hurrying to spot me.
Vex's POV:
That girl is gonna get herself killed one day. All that pride in that scrawny body of hers, I can't. She already almost dropped a weight on her toe today. Though, I can't say I don't wanna see this. It's gonna be funnier than hell when she can't even get it off the rack.
"Aye, Lin, shouldn't we stop her? She gonna get hurt," I say, going against my impulses.
"No, let her do it."
I turn to the tired-looking man, almost droppin' my dumbbell, "Damn, I never knew you were a sadist. Can't believe that's what Allie's into."
Lin chooses to ignore that comment, just like most things, "Jordan needs to learn that her body has limitations. This is something she has to figure out for herself," he says, looking over to her and pretty boy's rack, "See."
When I look over, I can't help but bust out laughing.
Jordan's POV:
I can't believe this shit. I can't even get the stupid thing off the rack. How can anyone physically lift this? It's like the weight of a whole ass elephant. Is Kai God or something? Shit, I think he might be God.
Despite my inability to lift the damn thing, I still try. I end up hovering it over the rack for a moment before my legs collapse underneath me, and I fall on my ass.
I can hear Vex's obnoxious laugh from across the weight room. She better be counting her blessings because I'm about to beat the shit out of her.
"Aye, Jordan! You're supposed to squat it! I hope you know that!" Angel yells.
I give him a bone-chilling glare. His eyes go wide, and he lunges behind Daiki for protection.
Coach sighs, rubbing his temples, "Alright guys, that's enough for today. Circle up."
We do as he says, but I make sure to elbow Vex and Angel in the sides before taking my seat next to Kai and Lyric.
