"Hey! Genevieve! Wait up!"
I'm watching the shadows, so I can see him coming. And when his hand reaches out to me, I know and twist just a fraction out of the way. Malcom Pontes hand slips as he tries to grab my shoulder, but I dance out of the way and his knuckles hit a nearby locker. Loser.
"Piss off Malcom."
"Come on! How the heck did you know what I was doing?!"
"It really wasn't that hard, you know." Sometimes I wonder about his intelligence levels.
I can see the people around me. Most of them are grinning at me being able to seriously annoy the most popular guy in the school, but one doesn't really look impressed. Damon Crigler. Malcom's best friend. God damnit. And he's ahead of me in the corridor. So it's not much of a surprise when he steps out in front of me. Well, screw the way they designed the school. Because I might have been able to slip around him, but no. Instead, I'm stuck between a guy who wants to go out with me, and a guy who wants his friend to go out with me. I suppose I'll have to go with the get-out-of-the-way-or-I'll-attack-you way.
"Hi there Damon! How are you? Now, is there any particular reason you're blocking the way, because I have a class I have to get to, and I don't like being late."
He just scowls at me. Ouch. I suppose they're starting to get annoyed with me. I've eluded Malcom for just over three months now.
"Listen Forner, we've had enough of you insisting on being like this. It's about time for you to accept the inevitable."
Crap. This might turn into a fistfight. But I try to stay pleasant.
"You know Damon, I really couldn't give a shit for any of you guys. Get out of the way."
"No. I meant it Forner. I'm not moving until you give up this stupid game and go out with Malcom."
Oh crud. There's no easy way out of this one. So I pick the easiest option.
"Fine."
It sounds like I'm saying it in a grudging voice, but really, in my head, I'm meaning the synonym for 'great' in a sarcastic tone. And it works.
"Finally!" Damon's face is ecstatic, and by the sounds of disbelieving laughter behind me, I'm guessing that Malcom reckons he's just scored big. Before they can start badgering me, I slip around Damon and casually walk away. In a couple of steps:
"Oi Genevieve!" Crap. It's actually Malcom this time. If he's talking instead of Damon, there's trouble coming. "Gen! Where are you going? We're officially together now. You can't just walk off!"
I turn, making sure to keep my face looking innocent. "Malcom-we-are-not-officially-together-and-you-do-not-have-permission-to-call-me-'Gen'." Ha. They're both gaping at me like stupid little fish. And any second now, one of them will start talking again. But I don't want to let them. "When I said fine, you must have misunderstood me. I was saying as in, 'Oh fine, great, they've cornered me'. I never agreed to go out with you Malcom. And believe me, I intend it to stay that way."

Well, there's probably no-one reading this, and I mean the story in general, but please, if there's anyone out there, leave a comment or a vote or something because I just want to know if continuing this is a good idea. I have the story-line planned out, so if I know there's people there, it wouldn't take me long to actually put it up. Btw, if I do get some feedback, there will be character descriptions. I just couldn't manage to get them in this bit. And, maybe, you can make your own character. Also please check out my other book, Not Him. There's only a tiny bit on that too, but I have the story-line for that too, so if you like it, tell me too. Please please please?
Bai for now,
June
