Broken Needle, Broken Thread

He's new. Definitely new. I'd never, never seen him before.

His hair is dark. Short and dark. It's messy, but I can see how he must normally style it, because it wants to go that way. From what I can see, he's got heavy dark eyebrows and dark brown eyes. Everything about him is dark. Appearance wise at least.

He nervously goes to the front desk, and quietly mumbles something to Ms Barone. She smiles widely, gives him a kit, and points him over to a spare sewing machine. He awkwardly opens the kit and tries to organise the stuff on the tiny amount of table. Good luck with that. Crap. Did I say that out loud? Because he's looking at me, like a cautious creature in the wild does. His jaw moves just a tiny bit.

I give him my nicest smile, one that hopefully says; Hi, welcome, wazzup, don't worry, sorry if I said that out loud, and I'm here to help! Geez, I hope it was like that, otherwise it would have been more like a grimace. After a second or two I turn back quickly and bury myself in my sewing.

After about twenty minutes, there's a noise. Something between a crack and a ping. Ahh, the lovely sound of needles breaking. I think I might have been the only one who heard it, because there's a loud and constant whirring of machines working. I turn my head ever so slightly and see him out of the corner of my eye. He's looking dumbly at his machine, which now has the funny sight of a needle head hanging off the thread whilst the body is still attached to where it should be.

Maybe the 'I'm here to help' part of my smile really did work, because he slowly stands up, looks around, and half tip-toes over to me. I pretend to be checking some stitches. When he's definately behind me, I turn and lift my head.

"Hey, uhh, I ........." He trails of, mumbling what only he knows.

I give him the nice smile again. "Broken needle?" He blushes, and I actually nearly laugh. "Lemme help you with that."

I slip out of my chair and got to his machine. It's easy, basic stuff, but I don't want to make him feel dumb, so I um and ah for a bit until I discover how to fix it. Sigh. The things I do. After that, it's fixed in seconds. I step away, doing a mini bow. He blushes again and gives me a mumbled thanks.

*Malcom's POV*

I sit in my chair listening to Mrs Greene drone on about god knows what. My mind is on Genevieve and only Genevieve. Damon nudges me and I resist the urge to punch him in his annoying face.

"Dude, Malcolm we're partners for this study on Ancient Greece," he mutters as the whole class erupts in chatter, no doubt discussing who would be in their group.

"Whatever, can't you see I'm busy," I shoot back at him and watch in satisfaction as his face pales just a little bit.

Gen....

She drives me crazy and she knows it. Fiesty little seductress. Too bad I know she's just playing hard to get. No woman can resist my charms and when I want something I get it.

I still remember the day I first saw her.

It was autumn and red leaves were strewn everywhere. I was busy making out with Stacy, my girlfriend when suddenly I felt something small and warm collide into my back, causing me to spin around, ready to give the intruder hell for interrupting my makeout session with Stacy.

Instead I felt my eyes grow wide and my mouth fall slack as I saw the angel in front of me. Her blue eyes were terrified, partly obsucred by her beautiful golden hair which was hanging across her face in loose curls .

Her pink and plump lips had parted in a hurried apology before she scrambled away. Later on I discovered that her name was Genevieve Forner, and she was the new girl.

"Oi Malcolm, snap out of it," Damon whisper shouts as he waves his hand in front of my face.

I scowl before I snap at him, "Damon, I need Genevieve to be mine now. She's driving me insane! I've had enough of her games."

Damon looks at me with apprehension before suggesting an idea which made me bolt straight out of my seat.

"Bro, if you want her that bad, then take the initiative. Corner her somewhere she can't escape from and put an end to the games Malcolm."

The lesson was too slow and I started to pile my books back in my bag, eager to see Gen. I swung my now full back pack off the table and that's when the pain hit me. "F****** mother-f***** that hurts like a f****** b****!" The threads on the bottom of my backpack were somehow broken, which had caused the entire bottom to come off, with all the books landing on my foot.

Stupid broken threads.
