Chapter Seven
I had slept deeply for longer than I had thought I would’ve, but it was still decently early when I finally stirred.
My eyes were still shut as I yawned, and stretched out; extending my limbs as far as I could. Thankfully I could move my appendages, but I felt something tight holding me against something hard. I forced my eyes open, and I saw it was already dark, but there was a lamp still lit on the other side of the room.
I was beginning to take in my surroundings, and though I was briefly confused, I realized I was still in Jackson’s living room. I remember having watched a movie with him…. Batman, yeah, and then I must have fallen asleep at some point during it.
I tilted my head back, and I couldn’t stop the smile that was spreading across my lips. Just inches away from me, Jackson was sound asleep as well. His lips were slightly parted, breathing out them, but he wasn’t snoring or drooling. He only had deep breaths escaping out of him, and it was one of the cutest things I had seen up until that point in my life.
He still looked very Jackson like, but I liked the way his face looked at that moment. It wasn’t exactly peaceful, like everyone was known for saying, or maybe it was… It was just nice to look at him and know that he wasn’t trying to analysis me over something. Or hide his thoughts, whichever.
I wasn’t really tired anymore, but I wasn’t going to go and wake Jackson up. After everything he had done for me so far, and the things that were probably still going to come, I could pretend to be a vegetable for a few more hours.
At least that’s what I thought, until Jackson’s phone went off.
After being in dead silence, and being completely relaxed; a cell phone ringing was the last thing I had been expecting.
So yeah, I jumped.
Not only did I jump, but I ended up falling off the couch and crashing into the floor.
While I was quick to react to the burst of noise, Jackson was very slow at reacting himself. It wasn’t until after I had leapt from his arms that he slowly woke himself up, and even then he had a confused expression on his face.
As if it were a habit, he reached over me and to the coffee table, grasping his phone and pressing a button to silence it.
My heart was hammering in my chest, but Jackson looked at me as if he were still half asleep.
“... Aren’t you going to answer that?” I asked after we looked at each other for a few moments.
“It was an alarm…” He answered with a husky voice that was so sexy I almost shuddered.
By this point, my face was bright red, because I was stupidly sitting on the floor. The great man himself was still on the couch, and he slowly seemed to be waking up more and more as he started to smile at me.
“Did you fall off the couch?” He asked, voice still holding sleep.
“It startled me…” I grumbled, feeling my face getting even hotter.
Now he chuckled, and I pouted as I waited for him to finish. Thankfully he was still really tired, so he didn’t take much joy in my misery for long.
Actually, he looked as if he were about to fall asleep.
“What time is it?” I asked quickly, not wanting to be the only one awake in the apartment.
“Five A.M.” He answered without looking, his face pressed against the cushions of the couch and eyes closed.
