Chapter 5

I have to leave...don't I? Emily thought as she paced in her room. She unconsciously touched her cheek. The last place she had felt his lips. Why did he do this to her? Before she had left, there had been minor feelings, but booze and chick flicks, along with a good ol' pint of Double Fudge ice cream, and Aaron was Hotch, her boss, and her feelings were those of a needy loner.

A needy loner in love with her former boss.

And he loved her! It was great. Freeing, almost.

What was she going to do in London?!

"Morning sweetheart." Aaron had said it so casually, Emily had almost missed the nickname.

"Good morning," she replied, her heart breaking.

"All packed?" he asked, scratching his head. God, I am way too old for this high school drama. He thought, but instantly regretted it. He knew he was loving every minute of it. Every minute of her...and him...being an 'us'.

Even if it was only for another couple of hours. A couple of hours...hm...he did know that she loved him...Shit Aaron, you really are sexually frustrated if you are planning on a quickie with EMILY! But...it is Emily... SHUT UP! Hotch was having a mental argument with himself.

"Yeah, I'm all packed." Emily replied quietly.

She didn't want to cry, and talking at a normal volume would definitely cause tears.

Aaron didn't reply, simply took her bag, and her hand, and led her to his car.

God knows, he sure as hell didn't want to cry.

"You, uh...are you ready?" he asked, frowning.

"Yes, I think so." she responded with a sad smile.

The car ride was silent, her crying, him fighting back tears himself.

Nether were ready to lose each other.

At the airport, the stood in front of the terminal.

"Don't leave us." he said softly.

"Us?" she questioned, hands firmly gripping her bags.

"The team. Jack. Me..." he said simply, his hands in fists at his side.

"I love the team. You know I do. But Aaron...I waited that night three years ago. I waited for hours, hoping you'd tell me to stay, that I would be okay. That I had you."

"Emily, I told you to come to me when you were having a bad day. An offer you only used twice!" he was upset, a mixture of sad, hurt and annoyed.

"Every day was a bad day. I was alone, Hotch. Don't you get that?" she didn't hold back the tears, until she remembered where they were.

Quickly wiping her eyes she stared at him, he shouldn't be allowing a grown woman to cry in public."You don't think I was alone? That I didn't dial your number just  to press cancel?"

"That's not fair to me and you know it. You had Beth. I had a cat!" she responded, through almost gritted teeth.

"You could have come to me! Beth knew we were just friends!" he replied, wanting to cry, but holding it back.

"What was I to say? 'hey Beth, I love your boyfriend who also happens to be my boss, mind if I take him and cry on his shoulder?' How does that sound AARON!?" she yelled his name, before gripping her bag and walking towards the plane.
