Life has twists and turns

I got out of my next two classes grabing my stuff for lunch. Michelle and Duncan were probably at the lunch table with Jesse by now. I was taking like forever so...yeah. Hey I had to go to the library for a few minutes to grab something.

I put my phone and money in my pocket walking down the hallway. Jesse has been really nice to me. Normally people stear clear of me. Most think im a bad girl and that I do drugs or smoke. I don't. Others think im weird because im "emo" but thats just a stereotype. Im just glad he wants to be my friend.

I heard singing. Beautiful singing. I walked closer and slower. I listened closely because this person has some great talent.

I walked in and started clapping. I scared Jesse and he turned around blushing. "S-Sorry. I-I didn't see you there. Umm..." I shook my head. "No need to apologize. Jesse, you sounded AMAZING. You're soooo good." He looked shocked. "I...thanks. Heading to lunch?" I nodded. "Come on. You're coming with me. We're going to eat out in the courtyard." I grabbed his wrist and went to the lunch room to buy lunch and tell Michelle and Duncan where we were going to be.

I hoped in line grabbing two slices of pizza and Jesse grabbed a cheeseburger and fries. I payed for my lunch and Jesse did the same then i went to find Michelle and Duncan. I looked around the front not seeing them. I went to the middle then back. But to no avail.

I gave up and texted Michelle where we would be. I made sure Jesse was behind me and we went outside to the courtyard.

We sat down on a bench next to the fountain.  I took a big bite out of my pizza and looked at my phone. "So. What's your backstory?" He shrugged. "Nothing special. I'm not really special." "Bull crap. You are very special. I mean how did you learn to sing like that?"

He looked at the clouds. "My...brother." "You have-" He looked at me with a saddened expression that look in his eyes was begging me to switch the topic. "I have a cat." He sighed in relief with a smile. "I love cats. Girl or boy? Name?" I laughed. "Girl. Kabuki or Buki for short." I took out my phone and showed him a picture. He awwed and he looked at me. His eyes looked into mine and he leaned in.

I felt it before I saw it. A burning sensation whipped through my cheek. A sneer sounded. "What's wrong with you?" I heard Jesse shout. I knew who had slapped me. Alyssa. "Whats wrong with me! Whats wrong with her? If I were you, I wouldn't waste my time with her." She stalked off flipping her hair.

Jesse took out a cold water bottle and held it to my still red cheek. I hissed in pain as it sizzled. He smiled at me. "Don't think about what she said. She wro-" "Jesse. I don't understand. She's right. Im not worth it. I don't even know why you're hanging out with me right now. I-i can't be fixed."

He shook his head. "Thats not true. Everyone can be fixed besides I know what its like. Trust me. But look at me I got better. Now I hang out with you because you're an awesome person. I knew from first glance that I was going to like you. But I gotta say, you are just so cute."

Tears streamed down my face. "Y-you don't understand. I-i was abandoned. Left alone. My own parents didn't want me... How are you going to reply to that?" He was scilent. "Yeah. Thats what I thought."
