Chapter 5 ~ The times we had when you were here

Kai's Pov:

I was just in my room reading the book I'm borrowing from the library. Just sitting on my bed and then I started to feel hungry an hour later. I sighed and placed the bookmark on the page I left off of and went out of my room to the kitchen. While I was walking down the hall I saw Red leaning on a door. I think it was the scroll room? I went over to Red on my way to the kitchen.

"Whatcha doin Red?" I ask playfully. She blinks in surprise and turns toward me. "They now about me..." She sighs, "Are you sure they're worthy of helping us?"

I could tell she was having doubts. Especially since she wants to be in her body again. It hurts too much to think about the accident that happened. I shook my head back to reality. I looked up at Red who seemed really worried about this, "I'm sure. Besides we've beaten up so many villains many times! What's so different about this one?" I asked proudly. "That we're 'a part' of the villain's side. And you guys never have to kill villains here in Ninjago... Remember?" She looked down and started to sigh again, "Kai... They HAVE to kill him... Or they will face the same fate as us... Unless they free us from him, then I could kill him without them needing worrying about it."

I sighed in disappointment. And looked down, "I know... But you have to trust them... They can do this!" I say trying to light the mood. She looks away. "That's the thing Kai..." She looks back at me with the dull look in her eyes, trying to block her real tears, "I don't... They don't even know who I am. They don't know what I am. They don't know what you are. Or what we could do! How can I trust them if they didn't prove they are worthy of it? When will mom's words come true? When will Nya remember me? When will the pain I felt for 13 years finally end?!?"

My eyes widened... I mean I can't blame her... Your trust being used by others... Being betrayed by the people you loved... Being hunted down by your own and others... Being told lies all your life... Being alone... And loosing your parents...

I felt the same way about my parents until I found out they were still alive. Red flew up through the ceiling. She's probably sitting on the roof. I sighed once again and stayed quiet the whole time, to the kitchen and back to my room. I thought about what Red said.

How can I trust them if they didn't prove they were worthy of it?

The words were stuck in my head like a paper pinned on a board. I closed my eyes in thought.

S̴h̵e̷'̸s̶ ̵j̴u̴s̵t̶ ̷u̸n̷g̸r̸a̴t̶e̶f̸u̵l̶!̸ ̴S̶h̶e̷'̷s̶ ̸j̸u̸s̴t̸ ̶a̷ ̸l̷i̷t̸t̷l̵e̴ ̷b̵r̷a̸t̴ ̸t̶r̴y̸i̴n̶g̸ ̸t̵o̶ ̴g̵e̶t̵ ̴a̸t̵t̸e̴n̴t̸i̴o̶n̶!̸

A demonic version of my voice runs through my head. I opened my eyes and gasped. Oh no! Why now?! I need to find Red now!, I told myself, needing to fix the situation with her immediately. Quickly, I ran out of my room and bumped into Lloyd on the way out.

"Ow! Kai? What are you running for?" Lloyd asks trying to help me up. I apologized and ran, ignoring him trying to help me up, I didn't even bother answering his question. I just kept running until I reached outside the monestary and climbed to the roof. I looked up and saw it was almost sunset. I looked around the roof seeing Red not there. Until I turned towards the Sakura tree. I sighed in relief as I saw a glow from Red's soul form.

Once I got to the top of the tree next to Red, I could see the sunset. There was nothing but silence. Both, me and Red, were just staring at the sunset until the sun almost gone. "I'm sorry Red..." I apologized sincerely in a soft whisper. She turns facing me and looks confused. "What for?," She asks softly. "For trying to force you to trust them. It's just that... You always enjoy the stories I tell you about our adventures. The places we went too, the kinds of villains we faced, who did what. I even told you a lot about my friends... Even Nya. At first when I told you about them and what they do, you looked amazed by what I told you. I thought you already trusted them. But now I know it's gonna take more than a couple of stories to see if it's true. Even thought you've seen how they act, they haven't seen you and you don't know how they'll act if they met you. So... I'm sorry." I open my arms for a hug. She rushed over to me and hugged me. And as her soul holder, I'm the only one who can touch her, talk to her and see her.

"I love you big brother Kai...", She whispers to me. I smile and closed my eyes while tightening my arms around her.

"I love you too little sister..."
