I opened my eyes and noticed that both the shadow and its cold presence descended. But there was something odd that happened. To my left, a door seemed to have appeared. I did not remember it being there before. So I hesitantly, but steadily opened the door. I stepped inside and smelled a disgusting scent of a rotting corpse. But there was nothing in the room. The door slammed shut behind me again. “Why does this house keep shutting doors the moment I walk in? This happened so many times already.” I thought. Just then, I heard singing. The voice seemed to belong to a little girl, with a pretty voice. It seemed sweet, but disturbing. “Mama told me not to let strangers in the house. But I did not let the stranger into the house. The stranger let himself in. Now mama is mad and does not want the stranger here any longer. Say, might you get hurt?” she repeated these same lyrics repeatedly. “Hello?” I called to the girl, “If you are here, will you show yourself?” I asked. There was a moment of silence for a few seconds. “But if I show myself, there will be a consequence. Would you be okay with that?” the girl asked with her sweet voice. “Well, what is the consequence?” I asked her. “You will never return to your family, friends, or home. No one will ever see you again. Your presence will basically disappear.” She replied. “That is okay. Please, come out now. I really want to see what you look like.” I told her. I heard another moment of silence. The room had a huge temperature drop, and I was freezing. The smell of the rotting corpse seemed to have gotten stronger as well. Then, I felt something breathing on my neck. I quickly turned around and saw a very thin, pale creature in front of me. It had long black hair that covered its entire face. Then, I realized that it was the girl. She was so thin that she almost did not resemble a human. Behind her was a trail of dark blood and then I saw why. The tips of her fingers were bleeding. Then the girl spoke, much in a creepier voice than the sweet voice she used before. “Did you know? Strangers that visited this house never escaped. Not once. Instead, they stayed here. I think you will be the last one to ever visit though.” Then for the last time, I screamed.
