Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!

I ignored the constant vibrating of my phone as I walked down the wet concrete, the heels on my boots splashing into little scattered puddles. Of course, it was raining the day I actually can sneak out to shop while my aunt's not watching.

Perhaps I should explain; my name in Saturn Wise, and I live with my reduculously over-protective Aunt Kiza. My parents apparently are some secret that she won't tell me or my brother, Mercery. I think they were most likely psychos who landed themselves in jail, I mean, they named us after planets; what normal parent in their right mind would name their kids after planets?

I began to brace myself as I entered out apartment building, riding up the elevator to the top floor; Kiza would have me grounded for this.

"SATURN JONE WISE!"

I groaned as the shout greeted me at the door, and Kiza ran in looking ready to pounce.

"Look, I just went shopping, so-"

"Do you know how worried I've been?" she asked loudly," You could have-"

"Could have what? Been run over? Gotten kidnapped?"

"Don't you use that tone with me!" Kiza snapped," New York is a dangerous place for a seventeen year-old girl!"

"Then why do we live here?"

It was an honest question that I had wanted to ask all her life.

"Why do we live in a city where I can't even go shopping by myself?"

"Saturn, when your parents left you and your brother with me, I promised them I'd keep you safe!"

"And why couldn't they be here to do it themselves?!"

"Saturn-!"

I didn't allow her to finish her sentence before stomping up to my room (a.k.a. the loft) and slamming the door, dropping my bags and crashing in my bed.

Why couldn't she just let me be normal? She didn't even let me go to school! I was homeschooled, me and my brother are probably the only ones within a hundred-mile radius who are homeschooled.

I laid there, fuming, until it became dark.

Knock, knock.

The door opened and Kiza came in, a plate of steak in her hand, I could tell cause of the sharp spell of steak sauce.

"I'm not hungry," I lied.

"Well, I'll leave it here anyway."

She set the plate on my desk, and headed back towards the door.

"You're grounded," she told me.

"Tell me something I don't know," I muttered.

She heaved a heavy sigh, and closed the door.

"I hate my life," she hissed under her breath.

Knock, knock.

"What, Jones?" I yelled.

He opened the door and closed it behind him, plopping down on the plush white couch.

"You're grounded. Again," he announced.

"You don't say."

He chuckled, drawing a smile to my face.

"So, what was it this time?" he asked, "Talking to strangers?"

"Shopping."

"Ah."

Though we look nothing alike and are a year apart, Jones is perhaps my best and only friend.
