I'd finally stopped struggling as they dragged me down the hall of the ship, with Adeline in front.
Where was Jones? Was he okay? He'd looked dead to the world when they'd dragged him away.
"Where are you taking me?" I demand to know.
"To Titus," Adeline replied, her blonde ponytail swinging behind her.
Titus? Who the hell was this Titus everyone kept talking about. I got the feeling I wouldn't like him. And I was right.
As soon as the doors opened, they revealed a young man surrounded by women in these ridiculous skimpy outfits. Ugh.
"I've brought her, as you've requested," Adeline announced.
"Ah, and the other?" the young man said.
"In the dungeons."
"Wonderful. Well done, Adeline, you have done just as I asked!"
He folded his hands in his lap,
"Leave us," he instructed.
The girls giggled as they walked out, Adeline was the last to go.
"Oh, and Adeline?"
Adeline turned back towards him as he spoke,
"I don't suppose you like to join me for...desert?" a sneaky smirk appeared on his face.
What did Jones ever see in her? I ask myself as I glare at Adeline.
"No thank you," Adeline replied cooly.
She left then, leaving the young man shaking his head.
"Such a pity."
"Who are you?" I ask.
"Oh, dear, you truly know nothing," he rose from his chair and made his way over.
"Ah, Saturn Wise, such a beauty." He reached towards my cheek, but I slapped his hand away. Who did he think he was?
"And so fierce, like her mother."
"Mother?" I shook my head,"You knew my mother?"
"Oh, I was engaged to her at one point. Oh, but she wasn't as stupid as I'd hoped."
"Who are you?" I demanded again.
He spun back towards me and spread his hands in a welcoming gesture,
"I am Tidus Abrasax," he informed me," and the only reason you are not dead is because of your mother's ownership of your retched planet."
"My mother's...what are you talking about?" I asked, wondering if he was crazy.
"Your mother's name in Jupiter Jones, or Jupiter Wise now since she's married your Lycant father. She took the Earth from my brother, Balem, and now she owns the planet...so I cannot harvest it."
At seeing my utterly confused look, he explained.
"You think your little Earth is the center of the universe, but it was merely created so that the Abrasax could harvest it. Millions of planets with your species are created so that we can harvest them, Earth was next until your mother came along."
"Harvest-harvest what?" I asked.
He walked over to the desk and picked up a tube filled with a glowing ice blue substance and handed it to her.
"What the hell..."
"This is what we harvest, it's worth more than your entire solar system."
"What's it made of?"
"It took about one hundred of your species to make this one encasement."
I gasped as it slipped from my hands, the glowing substance splattering as the glass shattered.
"You use-"
"Humans, yes. It's our form of life," Titus said," your parents thought they could hide you from me by leaving you with Stinger's daughter. How they failed."
"You mean to tell me she wasn't even my aunt?"
This wasn't happening to me.
"Of course not!" Titus snapped,"they thought if they went off and fought I'd never find out. And I admit, it worked for a few years."
"They left to protect us," I said, my voice a whisper.
"Yes, but you and your brother are just like them. I had spies on earth, and of course they found you. Yet, your parents are too far away, fighting a war unknown to you to know that you are my guest."
"Guest," I raised an eyebrow," It looks more like prisoner to me."
"Do you see any shackles? No. I'm giving you an opportunity," Titus said, walking closer.
"What kind of opportunity?" I asked, suspicious.
"You can join me. You can have wealth, power-everything you've ever wanted. You can become my child. You won't have to hide ever again."
I balked at his offer, was he serious? Why would he be?
"Why are you offering this to me? I thought you hated my parents," I stated.
"Well, there is one condition, of course."
There it was.
"What kind of condition?"
"You will pose as bait," he began," so your parents will come to your rescue. I will be waiting with an ambush- we will end them there, and you will finally have revenge on them for leaving you."
I blinked several times. Revenge? Sure, I was a little pissed that my parents left-even if it was to protect me-but revenge?
"What's this war about?" I asked.
"Oh, that."
He rolled his eyes,
"By dear sister and your parents are battling against me so that I stop harvesting the planets. It's sad really, my sister use to be so much like me. Then your mother came along."
Frowning, I thought. My parents were fighting a war. In space. With this crazy guy's sister. Trying to stop him from "harvesting" planets. Did anything make sense anymore? But still, they were fighting for the freedom of people. If they lost the war, it sounded like they'd loose Earth...so they were also protecting her.
"And if I refuse your terms?" I said.
"Then your brother will be tossed in the open vacuum of space."
I gulped. Jones. My only true family I knew...who'd lied about a girlfriend, who happened to be evil and captured us and brought us to our parents' enemy. Her parents- she didn't even know what they looked like. But they'd left to protect her and Jones.
"I'm sorry," I looked up coldly," but I can't agree to these terms."
~
"Jones?"
My teeth clench and something like a grown escapes my lips as I look up,
"What do you want?" I snarled up at Adeline.
"Jones, I just want to say I'm sorry," the said.
I scoffed,
"Yeah, right."
"Titus is my employer, I'm an assassin; I had to follow orders."
"And I thought that maybe you could've loved me."
I didn't look at her, but I knew how shocked she was. But what I'd said was true.
"I thought that you were the one," I shook my head," guess I was wrong about that."
She remained silent, and my heart felt like it was being sucker-punched, but I went on.
"You know, did you ever really love me me?" I asked, looking up at her face. I used to find it beautiful, but now it was the most hideous thing of ever seen,
She said nothing, but I could see regret in her eyes. Good, she deserves to feel it.
"Jones, I-" her voice cracked.
"No, I'm done with you," I growled," Get out."
She didn't say anything else before walking off, and the bottomless pit in my stomach continued to grow.
I hate her.
It was all I could think of.
She killed Kiza. She hurt Saturn. I hate her.
