We finally got to the diner. It was a small diner like most of the things here. The building itself was a light greyish blue color with light purple trim. There was a neon sign above the building with the diner's name. The inside was nice. There were tables and chairs and booths as well. There was a little bar area that was connected to the kitchen.
"Ladies first." Cam smiled down at me and opened the door, gesturing for me to walk in.
"Shut up." I glared at him and walked in. I walked over to our usual table with him following behind me. We both sat down and when the waiter came over, we ordered our usual. The smell of baked goods, coffee, and bacon filled the air.
"So, is this our first date JJ?" Cam was looking over at me again with that dang smirk on his face again. I kicked his feet under the table.
"We're not dating Cam." I was glaring at him again.
"Why not? We both tolerate each other. I also know you have a crush on me." He was still smirking at me.
"I don't like you like that and we're not dating because neither of us like each other like that." I stood up to go to the bathroom and get out of this irritating conversation.
"Jasper, I was joking. And who said I don't like you like that." I froze for a second. I never really thought of Cam in any way other than a friend and now he's pulling this. I thought he understood I'm not ready for something like this again.
"Cam please don't do this right now." I started making my way to the bathroom. I didn't want to have this conversation right now. I finally got to the bathroom and opened the door. I turned around shutting it and locking it. I slid down the door onto the floor. The metal of door was cold on my back. My head was in my hands and tears were forming in my eyes.
There used to be another teenager who lived here. Their name was Tate. She was amazing and one of the best things to ever come into my life. We started out being friends then we started dating. They were everything to me. My family was never really there for me, but they were. I loved them, and she loved me. Then she disappeared. And I don't mean she left I mean they disappeared right in front of me. One second, she was there the next she was gone. It broke me. I barely left my room after that. My family eventually had enough and made me start working. That's when I met Cam. He was the only one I ever talked to about Tate. The reason him saying he liked me was such a touchy subject was because the day Tate left was the day, we both said we loved each other. I still hadn't moved on from it. I can't go through something like that again and I thought he understood that.
"Jas, open the door please." Cam was knocking on the bathroom door. "Jasper please." His voice sounded desperate. The knocking stopped. I was still on the floor with my head in my hands. I wiped away the tears that fell down my face and slowly stood up. I took a step away from the door and took a deep breath.
