━━━ (PROLOGUE)

THEY WERE MANA THEMSELVES. Manifested from the bountiful energy in every nook and cranny of nature; the source of all magic. Gods were believed to be immortal beings with ichor flowing through their veins and aurum for flesh. Copper cartilage and marble-carved eyes looking down at the world they promised to look after. Before they filled the loneliness of the world with mankind, the Earth was once a champagne-drunk beauty high on poppies and petunias, hugging soft-cut grass with her peach blossom cheeks and hands as soft as a baby's bottom lifting rich soil to feed herself. As beautiful as she was, she was lonely. Her flowers were looked after by rain but nobody reciprocated the love they bloomed. Oftentimes the Earth wept in her solitude until ever so kind, the gods moulded and sculpted her company by gifting her humanity.

Humanity was complex. The Gods made them for love. It's why their fingers are able to lace around another's perfectly like two puzzle pieces joined together, it's why their souls are little mosaic things pieced together to feel everything at once, it's why their lips are shaped to mould against another's for a fleeting kiss of love, it's why their hearts can beat in the same rhythm as another to assemble a lyrical harmony making birds weep.

Beautiful creatures indeed were they. Earth couldn't have been more happier.

The first god she thanked was gifted the sky and the clouds; heaven's reflection was his domain. Pastel blue gently poured into the sky swimming with titanium white foams so soft feathers cried. The physical form he often took married the stratosphere's palette perfectly. Curly hair camouflaged within the clouds, stormy eyes so blue they stole every drop of colour the ocean had, bronze complexion reflecting sunlight and charming smile to woo the lovesick. Amongst mankind, he was named Baal.

The second god she thanked was gifted the underworld; hell in the making was their new home. What the Earth considered unpleasant and unholy, they considered gorgeous madness. Ruby rivers the resting home of bones, cracked grounds reminiscent of scarlet porcelain too fragile its cracks blended with its beauty, crimson sky making love with raven black smoke to create the image of the most breathtaking sunset only the dead were blessed to see. They didn't bother to go by a name amongst mankind━Aidoneus was what they were most commonly known as━in fact, they were the least appreciated by them for they associated themselves with mankind the least out of all.

The third god she thanked was gifted the vast ocean; paper-light grey baby waves was all it was back then, but she appreciated the present. Like the second god, the third god found no need to name herself though mankind, after intelligence flowered within their skulls, decided to refer to her as Amphitrite.

Earth once told Amphitrite, "The sky is blue because it stole all the colours the ocean once had. Teal, ultramarine, aqua— almost every shade, hence why it's now depressingly grey in colour. But I shall give you more colour from the irises blooming over my hills and you shall paint your oceans."

                    And so she did.

Brushing phtalo blue and azure over the bouncing waves, pouring pearl white for the foam and drizzling light blue everywhere so meticulously you'd assume the ocean was once a masterpiece done by Van Gogh's hands before his birth. This was her canvas. This was her home. And she intended to make the most of it.

Salt wafting through the air- dolphins created in colours she couldn't even see- broken seashells laying in their sandy graves- galloping over the high tides were the mares- love her creation and she'll love you.

Once the lonely void in her core was fulfilled, Earth fell into slumber and gave humanity all that was remained of her stripped dry and bare, believing they would handle her with care.

Pity, Earth was such a fool.

Yes, indeed, though the gods made them for love, humans were capable of something far more sinister. Good cannot exist without bad. Every yin exists a yang. With the seven heavenly virtues comes the seven deadly sins humans succumb to. Inside every one of them is the battle between the light and the dark and unfortunately, most often, the latter emerges victorious and pressures mankind to sink their supple palms in another's blood.

Gods were filthy liars like snakes in the guise of gold melting at room temperature as mercury to shed their skin. They were not altruistic but the most selfish beings of all scoring top spot above devils and their own creation. Their desires exceed the heavens for they desire worship and praise. Without such, they'll cease to exist. And if you ask for forgiveness? They'll laugh until their lungs burn as the night rots into a darker shade of black. They won't give forgiveness. They'll give what you deserve. And in their eyes, mankind deserve nothing.

Be it saints, be it sinners — death does not discriminate!!

Millennia passes and the gods are long and forgotten (or most believed so). The devils are locked up (most of them anyway) in the deepest, darkest depths of hell. Mankind rules the world, and they've become the worst of all. Praising the rich, belittling the poor. Acting as if each other were from a different species based on status, not based on personality or love from heart. Isn't it strange? How humans find joy in seeing others suffer? In making themselves suffer for others? You're either the former or the latter or perhaps both.

(It seems she has brittle bones, torching her dreams for the ones she loves yet a slim smile of amusement barely slips past her lips.)

SHE IS THE BREAKER OF DAWN!! THE CONSUMER OF THE GODS!! THE DEMOLITION OF DEVILS!! THE ECLIPSE OF THE SUN!! THE CORRUPTED FORGIVER!! THE HYPOCRITICAL SINNER!! THE SALT OF THE SEA!! THE TWISTED, FUCKED UP FANTASY!! THE STEM IN THE CLOVER!! STRIP HER OF HER HUMANITY AND TURN HER INTO A GOD EATER!

Needless to say when she consumed the last godly being in history, nothing stayed the same.

                    GOD EATER,
                    TELL ME, HAVE I SINNED?

AUTHOR'S NOTE:

so i believe this book overall will be split into five parts?? or maybe less, i'm just estimating. before each part will be a 'prologue' or beginner chapter like this one to hint at my inclusion of lore in this work of fiction. and then, though things may seem confusing at first, everything will make sense at the end! 💓

i hope my writing isn't too much for everyone though and i hope you'll stay to read and enjoy this book! ooh, i also forgot to mention that there's quite a bit of cussing in this fanfiction (for both dialogue and a narrative view) so read with caution! and this book will be a tad slow with following the canon plot as i love diverging from canon and writing my own stuff so i hope none of my readers mind that?

also, what do you think of this so far? i'd love some feedback!

lots of luv,
coral!
