━━━ (CHAPTER EIGHTEEN)

THE CREPUSCULAR ROOM CHASED AWAY ALL shadows seeking refuge like a ferocious cat chasing away its prey. The stack of papers on the corner of the desk have proliferated since the last week and seated in the chair was not the one who the room belonged to. Instead, its owner was laying in bed with eyes glued to the ceiling, her right leg layered with cast.

"You done with my report, yet?"

"Almost." The sound of blue ink scribbling away at paper ceased after a minute. "Alright, finished!" Turning around, Anemone caught the relaxed expression on her partner's face. Mirela was already treated by healing mages however, even with magic, a broken leg was not something that could be perfectly healed so easily. She was off missions for awhile. "You good?"

"Yeah, feeling better." A pause. "Hey, you gave all the riches you found in the dungeon to the Magic Tool Research Lab, right?"

"Yeah." She lied with a convincing smile. The falseness of it went unnoticed. "Hey, since I'm done, I'll be going now. Captain said I have to head to the Royal Capital to give it in, right?"

She let out a sound of agreement. "The Black Bulls and Golden Dawn are also coming there to report so I reckon that's enough people to make an official conclusion for our dungeon mission, as well as should any of them provide sufficient evidence along with the statements made during the report. Captain Charlotte and Sol will also be there, I think. They're promoting Magic Knights today. So, don't miss me too much when you go off to the Royal Capital. And don't get lost."

"Sure, though you should be the one to not miss me so much. Get well soon!"

"As if I'll miss you!"

Anemone had never been to the Royal Capital before; the centre of the Clover Kingdom. Like almost every other town, it sparked with life and blinded her with colours she never knew existed before. It left her in awe for a moment but it didn't excite her as much for she was quick to realise that it's almost a mirror of any other cheerful place. The vintage rooftops binding themselves to towering buildings, the people scattered up and down shopping right and left; the only jaw-dropping attraction was the castle of the Wizard King in front of her (and the King, of course, how could she forget about the true ruler of her kingdom?).

"Nemy!"

Anemone whipped her head around upon hearing the familiar voice and grinned. "Hey, Asta. Princess—" at the acknowledgment of her presence (and possibly from hearing the nickname), Noelle averted her gaze, "—great to see you two again!"

"I can't believe how huge the capital is! And the castle— woah, that must be where the Wizard King lives!" Asta freaked out as his pupils converted to everlasting stars shimmering purely of joy, leaving Noelle's side to be beside his childhood friend.
