"Release my potential? Wicca? The flames didn't burn?"
The thoughts swirled violently around Akira's mind as she quickly left the barn and went for a walk in the woods to try to make sense of what she had just witnessed before making her way back to the cabin for some much needed rest.
"Is she still tied up?" Nero asked sternly.
He sat in the wooden chair facing the door, waiting for Akira to get back with a scowl on his face.
Akira avoided his gaze and proceeded to get undressed for bed.
"Yes. I'll check on her at sun up" she lied.
She folded up dress over the trunk at the end of the bed and got under the covers, hoping that Nero was too tired to be intimate.
"Good. It's your job to look after her until she goes back on Friday" he warned and joined her in bed.
He turned away from his mate and blew out the candle before getting comfortable and drifting into a dead slumber.
Akira's body stiffened and her eyes widened with shock,
"Friday? That's five days away! I need to go now!" Her brain screamed at the thought of having to spend one more day at the camp.
Her escape plan was unwinding in front of her and there was nothing she could do about it.
Thoughts of running away in the night came and went as questions returned of the strange woman and the level of threat she posed to Akira and the camp,
"I need to know more!" She determined before tiredness finally stopped her racing mind and led her into a dreamless sleep.
As soon as she closed her eyes the sun cane streaming through to announce the new day to the stressed woman.
Akira slowly turned over to see Nero staring at her and moved to the edge of the bed to gain some distance,
"Where were you last night? You came to back late" he grumbled, still half asleep.
Using all the remaining energy she could muster, Akira sat up and grabbed her towel,
"I just went for a walk to clear my mind from the job" she lied and headed to the door.
Nero regarded her with suspicion but the sounds of pots clanking together distracted his thoughts.
"Sounds like the ladies are getting breakfast ready. I'm going to get a bath but you should go and eat" she suggested and left the room to get some water from the pot over the fire in the other room.
Images of ham, cheese and bread tempted Nero's mind and he shot up and raced to the end of the bed.
"Don't be long otherwise they will be nothing left" he shouted.
He quickly got dressed and headed out the door as Akira sunk into her small bath and tried to wash away the bizarre events of the night.
The warm water, that would usually relax her aching muscles and tired mind, did nothing for Akira this morning and instead just led her to more questions about this mysterious girl,
"I wonder if that was her talking to me in the woods last night?" She pondered, repeatedly going over every step in her head to try to make sense of it.
"It couldn't be! How could she get into my mind?" She questioned.
More questions came and went and Akira didn't realise how long she had been in the bath until she was jolted out of her train of thought by a light rapping at her bedroom door.
