So this one could've been better, but it's still fine and fits the prompt. Dani and Malcolm trapped in a swimming pool.

No. 11 - Just Keep Swimming

Adrift | Drowning | Dehydration

There's an odd silence in the pool that Malcolm wasn't expecting as he breaks the surface of the water. And it takes him a moment to realize exactly why that is, as he finds the pool cover stretched over the surface of the pool, a good half a meter above his head.

Which must mean that the pools have closed, and he and Dani are stuck in here. Although he didn't hear anyone calling that the place is closing.... And surely someone would've checked if there was anyone still in the pool before putting the cover across, right?

Swimming over to the edge, he tries to pry the cover off, but it's no use. It's secured on there tight, and he can't get it off. And unfortunately he doesn't have a knife on him to try and cut an opening.

Looking around, he spots Dani just breaking the surface of the water. Watches as it takes her a moment to realize their current situation, before she's banging on the cover.

"The fuck is going on?" She asks, turning to Malcolm. "Did you hear anyone say the place was closing?"

Malcolm shakes his head, swimming over to her. "I don't even remember seeing anyone leaving." He says, looking up at the pool covering. "Or even the pool covering being put over the pool."

He's sure they would've noticed other people leaving the pool, and that they would've absolutely heard the pool covering being put over it. So what the fuck is going on? Surely they weren't underwater for so long as to not notice all of this?

"Shit." Dani shouts, pushing at the covering above them. "How are we going to get out?"

The answer to that, Malcolm has no fucking clue. They can't even call Gil or anyone to come help them, considering their phones are with the rest of their belongings sitting in the pool's lockers. They're completely stuck in here, potentially until morning comes when the pool reopens.

And Malcolm doesn't like that one bit.

Not to mention the small space they're in, and it's likely they won't have enough air in here until morning. Especially if one or both of them start to panic. And unfortunately, Malcolm can feel himself start to panic. And he doesn't do well with small spaces, and this... this is definitely not helping with his claustrophobia....

"Malcolm, you okay?" Dani asks, grabbing onto his shaking hands, as he brings them to his face.

He shakes his head. "I don't do well in small spaces." He says, voice beginning to shake.

He needs out of here now.

Dani pulls him close to her, wrapping an arm around him. "Everything's going to be okay, Malcolm. Just try to relax."

And he does try to relax, but the panic bubbling inside him is difficult to hold back. But having Dani here with him certainly helps to a certain degree, so he just tries to focus on Dani, and not on the small space full of water they're stuck in.

He just hopes they'll be out of this mess soon, because Malcolm doesn't want to be stuck here for too much longer. Especially as he suddenly realizes he hasn't taken his medication since the previous morning....

******

"How long has it been since we've been stuck here?" Dani asks, as she leans against the side of the pool.
