I hold two different ties in-front of the mirror over my shirt to see which one would be more fitting but the apparent lack of knowledge in the fashion department makes me ask for a second opinion. The occupant on the left side of my bed seems to have gone into another one of her deep sleep, so I roll one of the ties into a messy ball to throw it at her. My action doesnt get me the desired response as she just covers her head with the blanket which until now was just resting above her torso.
"Sofia you're sleep can't be important than this, help me out",
"Andy I already told you to pick anything. You'll look gorgeous in anything and everything". The compliment is sweet and naturally makes me smile at her
"Thank you but that wasn't helpful", I turn back towards the mirror knowing that Im on my own.

'Youll be fine on you're own right?", I ask her while she stands near the stove making herself a cup of coffee
"I'm no kid"
"I know but you're new in town and my town does has some shady stories to it". With amusement in her eyes she says
"Enlighten me". Walking over to the bed side table theres a small stool with two shelfs on it. The top one has some miscellaneous paper notes, a pack of nicotine gums (which belong to Sofia as I discovered a few days ago ,was trying to quit a habit she had acquired alongside the city lifestyle) and the second shelf has a stack of newspapers kept on it. Picking out the top most one , I bring it to her and nudge her to just read the first page.
'This is not new Andy, crimes are everywhere. There's a perpetrator in each one of us "
"You don't see me going out killing and looting people for it". She turns towards her coffee so that she doesnt have to entertain this conversation anymore and I hasten to leave for work.
Such has been our routine for a week now when I saw her outside my door and I invited her in. After feeling a foreign intrusion in the beginning we were quick to slip into a comfort zone of our liking and the past week has been all about knowing each other. I have kept her occupied so that she doesnt bring up the topic of searching for a new apartment and now I dont think she will. Throughout the day all I can think about is the hour hand striking five so that I could return to my new bubble and enjoy this feeling before it expires.
On my way home I make a stop to pick groceries . In the starting I use to make sure to knock before turning my key in the lock but now I am as quiet as possible so that her expression of surprise can behold my heart. Opening the door I notice that all lights have been turned on which makes me think that maybe she has gone outside or left but the gushing of water from the bathroom tap makes my worries go away. Setting the groceries on the kitchen marble I start to remove my sweaty clothes while opening the makeshift closet of a cupboard to search for new ones. To dig deeper into my pile of clothes I move closer to the cupboard and my leg makes contact with something. Upon crouching to see what it is, a duffle bag, the kind of someone carries when going on a trip lays there. Dragging it towards me I notice that it has already started to form a thin layer of dust on it. I dont recognize it so it means Sofia is its owner.
I had already told her to empty her clothing into the closet and I do see some of her articles but by guessing the weight of the bag it seems shes quite lazy to get it done all at once. Opening it I snoop around only to see ordinary stuff. Closing its zip I then commence to open the side pockets . The side pockets are quite small and my whole hand doesnt fit in so I just put my fingers through it and wiggle them inside the compact space just to come in contact with anything. A cool sensation passes through my fingers when it does come in contact with something and try to grab onto it by thrusting my fingers with more force, not caring even if the bag rips apart. My unsuccessful attempts make me turn the bag upside down and push it out on the floor. My hand movements are something like this
