Hard life (prequel to StaZZ2001's "The Twisted Life")

The Early Years

Axel stood in the meadow. His blue eyes looking toward the lake, blonde hair flowing in the wind. He is thirteen now. He was five foot six inches. He was waiting, waiting for Mary to come up the hill. He turned around to the sound to a twig breaking. "Aww. I thought I could sneak up on you. " Mary said frowning. Axel just stood their and looked at her. Axel hadn't talked much since his mother died from polio. Opening his mouth to speak he said" c'mon let's go home.". Then started to walk away. Mary frowned again once he passed her.She felt bad for him and wanted to comfort him , also she did like him. "The boy won't take a hint" she muttered as she turned around.

When they reached the village they were called in for the night by their parents. Axel went into his house without complaint. He didn't even say goodbye to Mary. One of the reasons Axel didn't talk much around Mary was that he liked her. He thought he would embarrass himself if he said to much. Sighing he said to himself "Maybe I'll tell her one day." Then he went to bed.

In the middle of the night Axel woke with a start. He had been having the same dream again. His dreams starts with him at age 18. He has full battle armor and a huge axe on his back. He is standing in the middle of a field with charred bodies all around him. Then five figures approach him. They say their names; Rax, Forest, Quick, Angel and Victor. They seem to know how he did this. The one called Victor tries to shake Axels hand and the dream ends. "Was this a vision or a dream?" He asks himself. Then he hears the sound of a horse neighing (I think that's what they say, sorry if I'm wrong). He looks outside to see torchlight. He knew everyone in the village was asleep so who could that be. Suddenly he hears the sound of a bow being pulled back and THWACK! An arrow flies through the window. He ducks down to look at the symbol on the arrowhead. The symbol was a dragons head, this was the Skandians symbol. His eyes widen in understanding. "We're under attack!" He yells at the top of his lungs
