''It's my lucky day, I guess.''

After wrapping up a few more hours of work, you felt the exhaustion setting in. The bookstore had seen a few more customers, and with the pending inventory, the tasks had piled up, making it a rather tiring day. The energy-draining process of organizing the bookstore sapped every ounce of your strength, and you were eager to head home. The encounter with the three mysterious visitors lingered in the back of your mind, resurfacing as you walked home.

"It's time to go home. Tomorrow is your day off. Niccolo and I are going on a romantic trip, and I don't want to leave you alone. Do whatever you want tomorrow; you've been overworking yourself, and I think you deserve a day to yourself. Enjoy the rest of this day also; I'm closing today," Sasha announced with a warm smile.

"Thank you so much, Sasha. I hope that you and Niccolo have a great romantic trip," you replied, waving her goodbye as you exited the shop.

With the prospect of having more time to yourself both today and tomorrow, you mulled over the encounter with Manjiro as you walked home. Thoughts swirled in your mind about his sister—Emma Sano. The realization struck you with a jolt, and you couldn't believe you had forgotten their connection. A mix of weariness and curiosity accompanied you on the brief walk to your apartment, which fortunately was just ten minutes away. As you reached your door, eager for some well-deserved rest, your phone started ringing.

Ignoring the persistent caller for a few minutes, you eventually picked up, already knowing who it was. "I thought you knew that when I call you, it means you have to answer immediately. I know you're home; don't even try to make an excuse," the caller chided.

Rolling your eyes, you prepared to respond, but he continued his rant. "Anyhow, you have a job for today. Or would you rather ignore it, like you ignored my six previous calls? This is the best one you've gotten in a while. Believe me, darling, you'll enjoy it more than sitting in your dusty apartment. I'll send you the details now, and next time, don't ignore my calls. Goodbye," he concluded, leaving you to toss the phone onto your bed.

Sitting on the bed, you glanced at the mirror, noticing the fatigue etched on your face. The mission was a few hours away, providing just enough time for a short nap. With little thought, you succumbed to your weariness, forgetting, at least temporarily, about the three intriguing men from earlier in the day.

Mikey's POV

Mikey's gaze lingered on the darkening sky, the thoughts of the girl from the bookstore refusing to fade away. There was something familiar about her, a nagging feeling that persisted. Izana barged into the office, interrupting Mikey's contemplation.

"What were you thinking about? Her? That was odd of you to ask a complete stranger for their name," Izana remarked, pulling Mikey from his musings.

"I don't know; she looks familiar. I think I have met her before," Mikey confessed.

"Maybe she was a friend from school?" Izana suggested.

"You really think I went to school? I used to skip it. I think the last time I attended was before I created Toman. I don't even remember what school I went to. Do you think I'd remember someone from my class? That accent of hers was very specific; you can't forget something like that," Mikey responded.

"It seems like you have forgotten," Izana remarked.

Takeomi entered the room, unfazed by the tension between Mikey and Izana. "C'mon, you don't need to look at me like you're going to kill me. I didn't say anything wrong," Izana said, rolling his eyes.

"Takeomi, can you look for some information about that girl, (y/n)? I just want to check something," Mikey instructed.

Takeomi nodded and disappeared from view. Izana observed Mikey, sensing an unusual fixation on the girl. "What are you going to do when you find out what you want? Stalk her? Kidnap her?" Izana probed.

"It depends on what I find about her," Mikey replied.

"What do you think you'll find? That she is a crazy serial killer, or that she... I don't know, burned an orphanage? She's a nice person, and I don't think she deserves her life turned upside down just because of you," Izana argued.

"You're the one to tell me that after what you did to Emma... and besides, don't judge a book by its cover," Mikey retorted.

"Don't lecture me now, Mikey. You're not the one to talk, as if you are any better," Izana retorted.

As they continued their heated exchange, Takeomi reappeared, interrupting their argument. "After going through the police database, I found literally nothing about her. Her full name is (y/n) (l/n), and she is 26 years old. That's it. No criminal record. Her file is completely empty. It looks like she didn't exist until a few months ago."

A satisfied chuckle escaped Mikey. "I told you that there was something off about her; she isn't really (y/n). Now, call the others to the conference room; we have a meeting in five minutes."

As the gang prepared for their mission, little did they know that someone else was getting ready for the same mission elsewhere.
