"time to adjust to the weird world of camp half-blood"

Mari couldn't remember much about the rest of the night. They told their story and answered a million questions from the other campers, but finally Chiron saw how exhausted they all were and ordered them to bed.

Apparently, Mari had looked the worst, because instead of sending her to the Poseidon cabin, she was sent to the infirmary. She hadn't even physically been at Camp Half-Blood for more than a day and somehow managed to make it to the infirmary twice.

However, Mari didn't really mind at all. It felt so good to sleep on a real mattress, and she was so exhausted, she crashed immediately after being bandaged and fed ambrosia. Her dreamless sleep was a good way to start off her days at Camp Half-Blood, and she couldn't be happier.

When she woke up the next morning in the infirmary bed, she felt like a completely different person. She couldn't tell if it was her rest or the fact that the quest had been completed, but a lot of her memories had come back to her in the night. The sun came through the windows along with a pleasant winter-y breeze. It might've been spring instead of winter. Birds sang, monsters howled in the woods, and the smell of pancakes and bacon filled the room.

Suddenly, Will and his mop of unusually bright blond hair popped out from behind one of the curtains. "Mari, someone's here to see you."

Leo leaned over from behind Will and peered curiously into the infirmary before seeing Mari, a big smile growing on his face.

"Hey, Mar, how's it going?" Leo asked, shooting her with a finger gun.

"I'm alright. You don't seem to be doing too bad yourself." she said.

"Y'know what's funny?" Leo said, walking over. "Your name is Mar-i, and in Spanish, mar means sea. And you're the daughter of the sea god. That's pretty cool."

"Huh. Fitting." Mari said, sitting up. "So, what's up?"

"Well, good news— I fixed your sword!" Leo said, beaming proudly.

Mari's jaw dropped. "Wait, you— we just got back, like what— eight hours ago? How did you—?"

"It's no big deal." he said, waving her off. "I would've brought it with me, but the infirmary doesn't allow weapons. Somehow Will found out that the ring in my hand was not just an extremely limited edition ring pop, so it's just in my cabin. I can get it to you when you—"

"Oh my god, thank you so much!" Mari squealed, wrapping him in a hug.

"Anytime, Mar. Anytime." Leo said, breaking away. "So... how're you feeling about the whole— missing kid thing?"

Mari paused for a second, taken aback. "I— don't know. I want to call her though. My mom. I'm gonna ask Chiron, but considering the whole "demigods can't use the internet" thing, I doubt he'd let me."

Leo nodded. "So are you gonna go back? Like, to San Francisco?"

"Maybe." Mari said. "After everything that's happened in the Bay Area, I'm not too sure I want to go back. But my first home is there. I have to try."

"I get that." Leo said. "But hey, this is your home too, right? I mean, it's the only place where we probably won't die."

"Yeah." Mari chuckled, although she could feel her heart skip a beat when Leo said "the only place."
