I glance at the calendar and see "7th of July" highlighted in bold letters: "PARTY AT 8:00!" Then at the clock which read "7:20". Great! Just in time. I open the wooden drawers and drag out a button-up shirt. What else? I decided to go with some ripped jeans. Messing up my hair, I run to the door and grab my converses - lacing them up. I look in the mirror and smile. "You're hot, Lynch!" Ran into my head as I smirked, grabbing my fluffy jacket and walking to the Marano's household.
The kitchen, garden and living room was filled with guests and loud music boomed through the speakers. Damaino, Laura's dad, walked up to me, grabbing a drink. "You having a nice time?" He says, sitting on the table. "Yeah! The party's great! But I got a question." "Yes son?" "Where's Laura." He sighed, confused at what I just said. I shake my head, running through all the people and walking upstairs to her room. The door creaked open and I stepped inside - walking up to Laura's back facing me. "Hey." She turned around, but her face was paler than normal. "Hi." She said shyly. "Why aren't you downstairs, at the party?" "I don't know." She shrugged her shoulders. "I guess it's a bit too much for me. I just don't feel like it.." She trailed off. I widen my eyes, remembering I had a gift for her. I grab a bag by the entrance and place my hand inside, grabbing a large object. "A guitar?" She screamed. I smiled, looking at the gorgeous, but expensive cherry-red guitar. "Yeah! When I was in Puerto Rico, I saw this on the shelves of the gift stores, and it reminded me of you. So I bought it. You're welcome." I say the last part cockily, resting my head on my shoulders. She giggled, punching me playfully on the shoulders. "Try it out?" "Oh. Sure." Her hands trailed along the strings and played a beautiful harmony of "Pass me by." I chuckled as she kept strumming, caught in the music, but was caught off when the door opened. Me and Laura both look towards the figure standing at the doorframe. Laura's sister - figures. "Oh, hey Vanessa." Laura had a smile on her face like the size of Jupiter. I looked back at Vanessa. "Uh, Ross, what are you looking at?" She says, confused - looking at me like I was a crazy person. "Uh, your sister.." Vanessa fiddled with her fingers. My smile faded. Obviously something was wrong. "Ross-" "what?" "Laura died 3 years ago...." My heart felt like it was going to burst. "So, what am I talking to then?" Laura's body colour turned into a transparent colour, as she walks through the wall. "So..let me get this straight, I was talking to a ghost?" "Yeah. Sorry Ross." Vanessa gave me a short hug and shut the door, leaving me in her bedroom where her cherry-red guitar sat.
