Chapter 8: Clueless

My alarm goes off and my eyes somehow open. Very impressive if you ask me. I look at my phone and... No new messages or missed calls, which means no work. I'd pop a champagne bottle if I weren't in that hangover "I'll never drink again" state. I grunt rolling off the bed, struggling to walk towards the kitchen and falling apart on the counter as usual.

-Hungover two days in a roll. Wow. -Emily smiles, cooking breakfast.

-Like a real artist. -I mumble.

-You are a real artist. -She says, setting a cute ass plate of pancakes in front of me.

-Can I marry you? -I joke with a cute voice.

-Yeah, yeah. Only if I'm not beaten to it. There's lots of competition.

-Don't make me fall out of love so quick like that.

-Am I wrong, though? -Em grins, sitting next to me on the counter, eating her own plate of, might I add, very good pancakes. -Pedro narc'd on Sarah so you know she's into you and, on top of that, you are still technically taken.

-Oh, fuck, I am. -I whine as I remember Jack. -Jesus, how could I forget I have a boyfriend?

-You groped Sarah Paulson in taxicab at 5am; we'd all make that mistake, honey. -She teases.

-Don't remind of that, I'm still mortified. -I laugh. -I'm so glad I don't have work today. I need time to rest and I'm not ready to see Sarah yet. Or Pedro. Or Lily. I really embarrassed myself last night.

-Stuff like that just makes you fun. -She comforts me.

-Or stupid.

-Two things can be true.

We laugh and gossip a little more as we finish breakfast. I go back to bed as Emily goes out. Alone at my apartment... Wrecked at my apartment... If this isn't the perfect opportunity for a nap, I don't know what is. As I pull the covers over me, my phone buzzes. No! I sigh and grab it from the bedside table. Who the fuck is... Oh! Suddenly, I realize I've been added to a group chat and Sarah texted me: "Hey, Miss Young" "Sorry to bother you, but Lily and Pedro have been on my ass all day, asking me to add you to a group chat we got going for the film. And tbh, I'm glad they asked. I could use some of your help to deal with them". Okay, that's nice. What the fuck do I text back?! My fingers hover over the keyboard for a while until I finally decide to type. "I can't promise you I'll help, but I'll try". After a minute, she answers: "Sure... I know just how well-behaved you are". Okay, I have absolutely no answer to that. Luckily, I'm saved from the pressure to answer by notifications on the group chat. Sure enough, Lily and Pedro are doing that same "yay new girl" thing they usually do and I'm trying not to react ridiculously. I'm lucky my coworkers are so nice.

After talking for a while, I'm interrupted by the doorbell. Please be Emily after forgetting her key, pretty please. I get up and leave my room, making my way towards the door. I take a deep breath and finally open it.

-Hey... -Fucking hell.

-Jack? -I say, a bit surprised and extremely disappointed even though I knew it was him.

-You haven't texted me in a while... We haven't talked in so long, I... I decided to come over, I was a bit worried. -He says with his sad puppy face. The only reason why I fall for that shit is because he does have the intellect of a dog... He plays the character too well.
