After agreeing to let Akses stalk Gabriella, Cass was left alone in his dorm. It was early in the morning, golden-gray light gently creeping through the window. He sat on his bed, legs crossed, not knowing what to do next. It was quiet without Akses there, his presence always known thanks to the billowing curtains and the ominous aura that surrounded him. What Cass really wanted to do was call Gabriella, but for one, he didn't think she would pick up, and for two, he didn't have her number.
Cass stood up and stretched out his arms. Walking over to his dresser, he pulled out a white button-down shirt and black ripped jeans. He slipped on a pair of black converse, grabbed his keys and raced down the stairs, then outside, to his car.
The car was a 2012 Ford Focus, painted red, with stickers on the back that said stuff like: Louder Than Your Girlfriend Last Night, and: God is Dead.
It was his brother's old car.
Cass hopped in and started the engine. He plugged his phone into the aux (Yes, the car had one of those) and turned up the volume. He drove for a long time, finding himself on the other side of the city half an hour later.
He kept going.
He felt hot tears running down his face, knowing that he'd possibly just ended his life on a whim, all for the sake of a girl's affection. He didn't want to care. He just wanted to be able to grow old with Gabriella, and that was all.
Cass pulled over next to a corn field. He didn't know how long he'd been driving, and he didn't care. His vision was blurred by the water in his eyes. He let out a scream, though it was barely audible over the sound of the music. He didn't know what was going to happen, he didn't know, and that was really scary. He didn't know where he was, or why he was there, but he was, and that was almost equally scary. He didn't--
All the light in the car was gone. Cass stopped sobbing and he was now gulping for air. He looked up, and though his vision was still blurred from crying, he saw somebody sitting next to him.
It was Akses.
Cass wiped the tears away from his eyes. "What--" he croaked, "Why are you here?"
He couldn't tell, but it looked like Akses rolled his eyes. "I'm done. I've figured out what she likes, so I came here, and now you're watering your car."
Cass frowned. "I wasn't crying that much."
Akses motioned to Cass's tearstained hands, shirt, and seat.
"Okay, maybe I was." he sighed. "So, what are we doing to me?"
Akses smirked, "I think you'll like it."
Cass raised an eyebrow.
"She's a bookworm."
"So?"
"She likes books like The Infernal Devices."
"Again, so?"
"She has a crush on Will Herondale."
"So. . . You're saying that I have to look like this Will Heron-whatever person?"
"She also likes Jem," Akses tapped his chin.
"So, which one do you think I could pull off better?" Cass asked, pulling his legs up so he was sitting cross legged.
Akses chewed on his lip. "How would I know? I don't read your books!"
"I haven't read them either," Cass sighed. "You know what that means. . ." Cass waggled his eyebrows.
"I do not," Akses stared at him blankly.
Cass held up his arms, "We shall delve into the world of FANART!"
