Cass couldn't find his voice. It worked. It actually worked! He opened and closed his mouth repetitively, trying to find words.

The man bent down to one knee. "Cat got your tongue?" he tipped Cass's head up.

His eyes were even more beautiful up close, cat like pupils, hints of every colour in them.

"What?" The man purred, his voice rich and soft, like velvet. Cass hated himself for making a Twilight reference in the middle of a very dire situation.

"Yes!" Cass shouted. "I mean-- I mean yes," he lowered his voice.

"Yes what?"

"I- yes-- I, uh, yes I summoned you." Cass scrambled to his feet, disliking the fact that the man was over a foot taller than him.

"Ah," the man smiled, twisted and cold. "Then let me introduce myself," He bowed, mocking and low. "Hello, Cass, I am Akses, Lord of the Fourth Ring. I assume you summoned me for a reason?"

Cass stutered, trying to figure out how the demon knew his name. "Yeah! I- uh, yeah."

Akses raised an eyebrow.

"So-- there's this girl--" Cass started.

"Ah, there's always a girl." Akses rolled his eyes to the heavens he had been cast out of.

"Yeah, um. I want her to fall in love with me. Like, I-- I don't know." Cass hated how his voice trembled, how defeated he sounded, in front of a being made of ruthlessness.

Akses said nothing. He looked troubled, his dark skin crinkled with worry. Or was it concentration? Or frustration? God, Cass didn't know. How could he read a demon's emotions when he couldn't even read his mother's?

Cass looked down at his T-shirt and sweatpants. He felt underdressed next to this giant of a man--demon. He waited for Akses to speak.

He waited a long time.

Finally, "You are willing to do anything, yes?"

Cass looked up and nodded nervously.

Akses smirked, a beautiful thing, really. "Good boy. Maybe. . ."

"What? Maybe what?"

"Oh, nothing of your concern." Akses brushed a strand of fallen hair behind his ear. Cass noticed he was wearing gloves that only covered his fingers. "Oh, of course, I must explain the rules."

"Rules?" Cass repeated.

"Oh, don't look so dumbfounded. Of course there are rules. Sit down, I must explain."

A/N: btw, I barely have a plan for this. . . it might be all over the place lmao
