Once I get to school I immediately go and stand under the tree, waiting in anticipation, for my new friends to arrive. As I stand there to wait I notice that it is really cold. I forgot a coat because I was so excited to meet them here. As I stand there freezing in just my uniform blazer and skirt I see Lucy walk through the front gates, of course she was smart enough to wear a huge gray coat with fur along the hood. She sees me and walks over casually a smile on her face, but it slowly disappears a small frown growing across her face. She runs over to me.

"ARE YOU CRAZY! WHERES YOUR COAT?"

just as she say so, it starts to snow. Great.

"And where is Dylan? He said he would come early so we could talk?"

I had no idea where he was so I simply shrugged my shoulders.

"Let's go inside otherwise your toes are going to freeze off."

I was starting to get pretty cold but I wanted to stay in case Dylan showed up so I said

"I'm fine, really lets just stay outside until the bell rings, I like the fresh air, and um I have never seen snow before so it's cool to watch it fall."

That was a complete lie, I was freezing, we had 30 minutes until the bell and I had seen snow before, I hated it. It was cold and messy but I really wanted to wait for Dylan. I decided to sit down and I curled my knees up under my chin for warmth, I wasn't ready to go inside yet. Just as I was about to give up and go inside I saw him running down the street, stream coming out of his mouth from breathing hard. Once he got to the gate he saw us standing there immediately stopped in his tracks. He lifts his arm up and scratches the back of his head looking away but then looking back at us under the tree. He smiles at us casually like he just saw us and strides over, trying hard to hide his breathing. His coat is well basically a sweatshirt but still creating more warmth. I was an idiot to forget and was paying for it now, I was sitting there shaking like crazy, white steam coming out of my mouth and when I inhale my lungs feel cold and hurt.

"Hi guys, am I late? I guess I didn't realize what the time was."

he said.

"So why were you running then?"

Lucy said. He got red but I couldn't tell if it was from the cold or embarrassment. He rolls his eyes and looks down at me. He sits down next to me leaning up against the tree. I was trying to hide my teeth chattering but all that accomplished was making my body shake more violently. He looks at me and says,

"Shai, oh my god you are turning purple, here,"

he said taking off his sweatshirt.

"I'm fine really-"

"Explain your purple lips then,"

he said draping it over my knees curled up under my chin. I was grateful the minute it hit the skin on my knees.

"So,"

he sad casually as if he did not just give me his sweatshirt.

"you ready to start your second day? Did you sleep good, because I don't think Mr. Baker will let you off the hook again for sleeping in class."

I wasn't tired so I said just that. We continued with small talk about my past life and his and Lucy's. I was avoiding talking abut Charlie because I didn't want them to see me or treat me differently out of pity. The bell seemed to ring only seconds later but a half hour had passes. I took the sweatshirt off to give it back to him but he declined and told me to wear it home, he had a spare in his locker and I could return it tomorrow. I smiled and thanked his and we walked into the school to start off my second day. I was enjoying this new life very much. I didn't want it to stop but don't all good things have to come to an end?
