After a long full moon night Blitzo was laying on his side facing away from Prince Stolas as the other looked at his lover. It has been a month since the Harvest Moon Festival and Blitzo had been acting more secluded from Stolas. Blitzo didn't think the prince had noticed but he didn't want to be around him as often as before, yet he wanted to be with the other day and night. He was a bundle of confused feelings and he hated it because being around the owl only heightened the confusion.

He laid there facing away from Stolas the entirety of the night but couldn't sleep a wink. He faced the wall, stuck in thoughts as he focused on the owls soft hoots he would emit when sleeping. Blitzo would never admit it to Stolas but he loved to fall asleep listening to the soft hum of the noises Stolas would make. However, instead he decided to stay awake, fighting off the rest he desperately needed. He didn't want Stolas to know he was awake so he tried to relax his back spikes and slow his breath. While he laid there in thought he twirled one of Stolas feathers between his fingers, bringing a smile to his face.

Stolas knew Blitzo was still awake the whole time. In turn he laid the same direction as Blitzo, watching the imps back tense from his deep thought and just as quickly try to relax as to not wake the other. Blitzo also tended to mumble when in deep thought, which also helped the prince know he was awake. He was slightly astounded that the imp hadn't passed out after their long and vigorous night, but commended him in his head. Stolas knew that when he slept he tended to hoot slightly so he would let out a soft "hoo'' every now and again and see the stress leave Blitzo's back ever so slightly.

Blitzo heard Stolas let out another hoot and decided he should get at least a few hours before he had to go back to work. He took the feather he had been twirling and held it close to his heart as he curled up into a comfier position.

Seeing the imp move Stolas reached out his hand and placed it onto the others back. "Good morning my little im-puh. How did you sleep?" Stolas spoke softly, popping the 'p' at the end of imp.

Blitzo let out a grumble and a soft curse before rolling onto his back so he could see Stolas. "Morning Stolas, I slept like a baby." Blitzo then mumbled, "Meaning not at all." Before continuing speaking to Stolas. "How'd you sleep? Sounded from your hoots you were dead out."

Stolas scooted closer to Blitzo, ignoring the upset grimace from Blitzo, and rested his head on Blitzo's chest in a way he could still see the others' faces. "Oh Blitzy I sleep so well with you next to me. I wish you could stay every night. Oh! Yes! Stay Blitzy!" Stolas cooed excitedly, completely forgetting he had a wife.

Blitzo ran a hand down his face. "Stolas you have a wife. And this isn't a...thing." He wasn't sure what to say specifically as he gestured between them. "It's a transaction so I can get the book and you can...well, get your rocks off. That's it and all it will be." Blitzo's heart ached to say such harsh things that he didn't even believe. He was conflicted of wanting it to become something so much more yet was afraid of the commitment. Plus, Stolas was married so that totally weighed out anything more....right? Blitzo's brow began to furrow showing his inner turmoil and confusion before he shook his head to clear it and crossed his arms looking down at Stolas.

Stolas was well at hiding when Blitzo's words hurt his heart but his eyes reflected a tinge of sadness and pain that he hid swiftly. He plastered his smile back on wrapping his hands around the imps waist. "Oh Blitzy you're so funny." Blitzo hit his forehead again, seeing as the owl didn't listen to a word he said, too infatuated with him. At least that's what he thought which wasn't the reality. "Well if you can't stay, why don't we go out to dinner then! We haven't done that yet and you deserve a nice night of pampering." Stolas finished his speech using almost baby talk holding the bottom of Blitzo's chin.

Blitzo pulled his face away and had to let out a harsh cough to try to hide his blush that crept across his face." Well I'm not going to say no to some free food so why not." Blitzo shrugged and pushed the owl off his chest swinging his legs over the side of the bed to begin standing up. "I gotta go to work though so gimme the book I'll text you when we are done."

While Blitzo was getting redressed Stolas reached to the lowest shelf of his nightstand and grabbed the book. He did a brief flip through and looked to make sure it wasn't damaged then placed it where Blitzo had been laying. This was the time he dreaded the most, when Blitzo would leave. His eyes had saddened with a frown on his face.

Stolas sadly asked Blitzo. "You really have to go?"

Blitzo's heart aches when Stolas would keep trying to make him stay. Part of him wanted to stay, to be wrapped in the owl's arms and feel the soft feathers on his skin. But he couldn't. He had to remember that, keep telling himself he couldn't and that he had to go to work. "Stolas we've been over this. I have to go to work and before you ask no you can't come with me."

Stolas put on what he called "little owlette eyes." "Please Blitzy, I won't get in the way. I can even help out."

It felt like for the millionth time that morning Blitzo ran his hand down his face. "Stolas. No. Plus this is an overnight in the human world and this mission is extremely dangerous." Now fully dressed he turned back to face Stolas, his face red. "And no, that doesn't mean it's because I care about you or anything. It's just business, yeah, business."

Stolas' face turned sad and he grabbed the blankets before burrowing in and turning over. "Alright, Blitzy, I'll see you next moon then." He sadly hooted out.

Blitzo's heart broke more as he reached out to the owl before returning his arm to his chest. He slowly walked to the door, book in hand, his tail dragging against the floor. He looked back again, to see the slow rise and fall of a saddened owl's back. He left the room, closing the door with a soft click, and began the journey to the front door. Finally reaching it he released a heart heavy sigh before turning back around and stomping to Stolas' bedroom.

Bursting in the door he declared to Stolas, more than asked. "We're going to dinner when I get back from this. You and I, at 'Café Des Artistes' , I'll pick you up." With that Blitzo slammed the bedroom door closed and ran out of the house.

Stolas was left in his bed shocked by what had just happened. It took him a moment to process before his face ran flush red and tail began wagging rapidly. He let out a happy squeal as he flopped back onto the bed beyond ecstatic. He finally had a date with Blitzo and he wasn't going to mess this up.
