I roam around the house, very bored. My mom and dad work late and no one ever wants to could anything on the weekends. I make my way back to the fridge, checking it for the 5th time to see if any other foods magically appeared. I opened, then shut, then opened the door once again to see if any other food was in there. Damn there's nothing still... I sigh and face palm. did I really just do that? I decide it would be best time to go upstairs and listen to music. I go into my room and put my iPod into my speaker and put it on random. I can move mountains I can work a miracle work a miracle Woah-oh-oh, keep you like a oath til nothing but death did us part. I jump onto my bed and dance to Uma Thurman by Fall Out Boy. I pull out my phone and decide to text my three besties.
Hey! Anyone wanna come over? -Sara
After the song ends, I get an answer Finally I thought to myself and reach to grab my phone.
Yea! Well I'm in town at the moment.with my mom and brother, I'll ask her on our way:) ~Jak
I smile a bit with a slight blush appearing on my cheeks.his skin was really pail, even though he was outside all the time. He had died his hair grey, not sure why, but it looked good on him since his hair was shaggy too. I guess that's what I liked about him. And he liked just about all the things I liked, bands, tv shows and movies. He was a popular kid in the school which was a good thing he hung out with us.

A few minutes later, as Imagine Dragons played, my phone buzzed again.

Lesli and I have been friends since 6th grade and we hung out many, many times. So today wouldn't be any different. She had kinda tan skin with red hair cut short and a clean complexion. She was very well at all sports and was very well known in school so you could say she was popular like Jak.

Sam and Jak were close like Lesli and I, but we met them last year in Jr. high. Sam was more of a Computer nerd, and had short brown hair that he always spiked up into a fohawk. He wasn't well known at school, so he was kinda like me. He was also very stubborn, too.

This was going to be fun because it's like the first time they would be able to hang. And my parents are both at the lab, so they won't be home for a while. My parents worked both as Scientists. They have been finding many cures lately, but they said that something happened at work and they would have to be working a lot of late nights. I would try to bring it up to them, like ask them about any new things that happened to them or how their day was, but they would always just shrug it off. "We worked very late last night honey, let us take a few z's then you can ask okay?" They would usually say that. I talk to Lesli, Jak, and Sam about it and they say that it would be best sometimes not knowing things...

Lesli was the first to show up, then Jak and lastly, Sam. Jak had brought a thing of popcorn, chips, candy and a 12 pack of Mtn. Dew. Which was all our favorite. I popped up some popcorn and we talked for a while watching tv. Then a few minutes later, the news was on and we all looked for the remote, or to see who sat on it.
"What the-" I started to say but was cut off by the news.
"Breaking news! Mr. And Mrs. Dr. Rockwell has recently discovered a new disease. It is highly contagious and is traveling by..."
"Hey Sara, isn't that your mom and dad?" Sam said as a picture of them shows up on the screen. I give no reply and turn up the volume while sharing them.
"...blood and bites. You could say, like a zombie. It may skins crazy, but just stay indoors, and you should-"
All of the sudden loud banging noises came from the tv and the new reporter looked in another direction. A new voice came.
"Cut. They're here. The infection spreads quickly..." We are all silent and I new they were looking at me.
"M-my parents.... cr-created or no they... discovered the disease o-of zombies...."
"Uhh Sara? You okay?" Lesli says grabbing my shoulders.
"I don't know..."
"Listen here lady, you need to leave the area now." "This is a big issue and everyone is advised to stay in the safety of their homes." "Damn it, listen here, you must leave emediatly." "Joseph! we need to evacuate no-!"
There was a giant explosion, you could hear gun shots and screams and it was cut off. I sat there stunned and unsure of what to do. I snap out of it as I heard pounding on the front door. It startled the other three too. I stood up and answer the door.
"Hello?" I asked but was shoved to the ground. "WHAT IN THE BLUE-!" A hand covered my mouth but I was surprised on who it was.
"Mrs.Rockwell?" Jake asks.
"Mom! What's going on?" I ask and pull her hand off.
"Honey. Listen your father and I discovered something that was supposed to be kept hidden from you. We're sorry but you need to pack lightly now. Go."
"Uhh..." I latest there frozen.
"I'll explain later. You three," she got up off of me and tossed them each a walkie-talkie. "Run home, also pack lightly. We need to leave now. If your family asks where just tell them to be careful. I'll explain all of it later." They nod in response and rum out. Lesli went through the back door and hopped the fence and ran through the yard across the street to here house. Jake and Sam both went through the front door and went left down to their houses. I stood and went upstairs followed by my mom. She went into her room and I went into mine. I grabbed my phone and iPod cause why not. Headphones, pants, shirts and changed into pants. I put a button up shirt on and messed with my hair. Hair elastics, baby pins and a brush. I look behind me to see if my mom was out. When I saw she was still in here room I decided to grab my small stuffed turtle (yes I had a stuffed animal, and it helped me sleep.)
"So," I shout out to my mom, "what's going on?"
"Shhhh. I said I'll explain later."
"What about dad?"
No response.
"Mom?"
"Are you done packing? Pack nothing but pants, hoodies, and shirts. No shorts. And wear your sneakers."
I roll my eyes, "Yes ma'am."
