His heart rate quickened. Faster and faster. Sweat dripped slowly down his neck. He felt like he was in a sauna. He tugged his collar, trying to get air under his shirt to cool down. He wished he did not say yes to his friends. Being at work in the office would have been so much better than this. In the window of one of the dim, passive buildings across the street, a child's curious, smiling face appeared. He waved but did not stop. Before he could go home, he had one task to accomplish and he would prefer to get it done as soon as possible. The uneven pavement mixed with his shuddering nervous form prevented him from moving as fast as he wished. It was as if the world knew what he had hidden in his coat.
