I pace just outside the border of the church, awaiting him to come out. Demons can't enter churches, it's physically impossible.
In the distance, I see Caleb, Chris, and Carlos shoving a kid around like a ball.
"Haha! Loser!" The jock, Carlos, says.
"Let's steal all his money!" The thin one, Chris says.
"What a great idea!" Caleb says, taking a bite out of his extra large chocolate bar.
I stomp my foot, causing rain to fall on just the three bullies. A smirk on my face as I watch them flip out. The young kid dry as can be, running away as fast as he can.
"What the fuck?" Caleb yells.
"Chase after him!" Chris says.
"The rain is chasing us!" Carlos replies, running in circles.
The rain will run out in a few minutes.
I turn on my human form, hiding my demon features. Knowing God, this'll take awhile.
An hour goes by, then another, and another. I stand, facing the door, awaiting him to come out. It takes a lot longer than I'd like.
Creeeeaaaaakkkk.
My black eyes look up, hearing the large door open. James stumbles down the stairs, looking down at his feet. When he reaches me, us almost nose to nose if it wasn't for how short he was, he finally looks me in the eyes. His index finger lies on my chest.
"H- Hey," I breathe, hearing the rain from the bullies begin to slow.
"D- Did you-" He begins, "Commit suicide," His eyes are wide as if he's seen a ghost.
My own eyes go wide. "W- Who told you?"
"I saw a vision. He- He looked like you! He jumped off a bridge," He cries.
This is the work of God. Of course it is. I put a hand on his shoulder, but inch down to his waist as he begins to hold me. "Just promise me one thing," I tell him.
"Hm?"
"You won't do the same thing."
"Fucking gay!" One of the bullies shouts, the rain now fully disappeared. I send lightning off, causing the three of them to run off.
"I promise. But you have to promise not to leave me."
"I- I promise."
"You gay son of a bitch!" Someone shouts.
"Go kill yourself!" Another voice says.
"No one wants you, no good kid!" That was from my mother.
"What do you want? To fuck me?" Another boy says.
"N- No! It isn't like that! P- Please!" I sob, "Stop saying those things!"
"He's a no good mutt! We should've abandoned him when we had the chance!"
I jump up in James bed, a nightmare consuming my thoughts despite the dream being gone. The voices whisper in my head. I pant, letting the cool air fill me. Beside me, James is asleep. I slump back down, pissed that I'm having these stupid nightmares.
Everyday for the past three months it gets more and more obvious that I like him. And everyday I get more and more flashbacks from my life.
James turns around, wrapping his arms around me, causing my heart to skip a beat. I can feel my face heat up, red as a tomato. Is it weird to date a living boy? Shit, I can't be thinking like that. He'd never like me like that. We're just friends.
My tail wraps around his leg, proving that my previous statement was false. I clearly want to be more than friends. I haven't felt this way about someone in years.
