REAL LIFE

When Avery had walked home, she wasn't expecting to see a candle lit dinner in the middle of her living room. She wasn't expecting to smell good food wafting in the air when Drew was a horrid cook. She wasn't expecting the rose petals that were strategically placed on the floor one by one. She hadn't expected any of it.

Not Drew in a tuxedo, welcoming her and greeting her like they hadn't gotten into a silent fight. He pulled her into a kiss and took her bag, setting it on the counter as he led them to the table setting.

The forks and napkins were lied out perfectly on the table cloth. There were wildflowers in the turquoise vase, the same ones that Avery had gotten when they had went to the field of wildflowers and almost kissed. There were silver food domes covering their plates like in those fancy restaurants.

"Drew...what is all this?" Avery asked hesitantly, not wanting to rain on his parade. If this was his form of an apology, it wasn't needed. If anything, she was the one that needed to apologize.

"Look Aves, I'm sorry" Drew sighed, taking her hands in his. "I shouldn't have said that I loved you when you weren't ready and to be honest, I don't care if you don't love me. We'll get there eventually and I didn't mean to pressure you into saying it."

Avery shook her head, "I shouldn't be leading you into a false direction when I didn't answer when you said you loved me because I do. I do, Drew. I love you, and I don't know why it took me so long to tell you. I'm really sorry and I know, I always make mistakes, but I am sure that I am utterly in love with you."

Drew was left speechless at her confession and Avery was blushing profusely at it. She had just told Drew she loved him and he stood there with a dazed smile on his face. Avery thought he was the most adorable thing on Earth.

It was Avery who made the first move this time and twisted her hand in Drew's tie, pulling him into her and crashing her lips on his. At first Drew didn't react, but then his lips moved with hers fervently, like they had both been starved of each other. In a way, they had.

She tasted like strawberry and Drew couldn't get enough of it. He was addicted and so was she. They loved each other and that was all that really matter to them. None of the exterior drama caused by E News or the hate comments could get to them in this moment. It was just them.

They had to catch their breath, feeling each other's breath fan against their lips. "The foods gonna get cold" Drew breathed out, panting.

"Shit" Avery laughed, "We should probably eat then, since you cooked it for us."

Drew glanced his head away, "Well....about that, how much do you love Chinese takeout?"

"Not enough to stop this" Avery shrugged as she threw herself at Drew, attaching their lips again.

Drew caught Avery by her waist, startled by the sudden action, but kissed her back. They stumbled to the bedroom and closed the door behind them. Avery guessed she would have to wait until the end of the night to tell Drew that she had bought Tammy's record shop. That thought didn't even crossed her mind as she and Drew knew that they loved each other unconditionally.
