Gia

"Come on, please? It'll be fun I promise."

"I don't know Gia, it's not really my thing."

"I know I know, it's just I think you'd end up having a lot of fun. Plus I'd really like to see you in a suit," I whine trying to convince him.

It's been two weeks since the whole egging houses situation and things have been going great. Elijah makes me breakfast every morning before I go to work and I return the favor by making him smoothies before he works out every night. I'm back to my regular schedule at work, Elijah insisted that I stop missing work to be with him. I didn't mind it though, spending more time at work has allowed me to work on the launch of our new morning line. It drops on Saturday and we're having a launch party at Tori's Friday. I really want Elijah to come, I think he'll have fun but by the way the conversation is going I don't think he's up for it.

"Who's gonna be there?" he asks softly.

"Tori will be there, so will a couple of other people that work for me. There will also be some board members and possible investors there but that's it. It won't be a super big party, more like a business celebration."

I look up to see him staring at me with what seems like a confused expression. He's trying to figure me out again, he does that a lot.

"Why are you looking at me like that?"

"I'm trying to figure you out but it's not working," he admits.

"It'll never work, I don't wear my life story on my sleeve," I laugh, getting up to go to the kitchen.

"No you do not, but I was hoping your eyes would tell," he says following me into the kitchen.

I turn around to see him leaning back on the island with his arms folded across his chest.

Man he looks good.

"So if my eyes don't tell you my life story then what do they tell you?" I ask while closing the gap between us and looking up to make eye contact with him.

I can see him let out a small breath as he positions his arms on either side of his body.

"They tell me that there's a lot more to you than you show. You've been through a lot and you rather not talk about it. Your past isn't the prettiest and you use it as motivation to work even harder for what you want. You're tough and very independent but you weren't always like that and you spend every minute of your life trying not to think about the time in your life where you weren't happy," he says softly.

For the next couple of seconds I just sit there in silence, processing everything he just said. It kind of stings a little bit, all of those things are true but hearing it come from hin didn't sit right with me for some reason.

I let out a small laugh while turning back towards the fridge.

"You got all that from a minute of eye contact?" I ask.

"More than a minute, your eyes are very easy to get lost in," he replies.

"Oh Elijah, so sweet all the time. I'm starting to think you're lying to me."
