We had to send the horses back to keep them safe. After, they left, we make our way into the kingdom. The fire was worse outside the kingdom, but much more worse on the inside. Many of the buildings were burned down. Fire played on the streets. I turn to Ash and Melody. "You two, get the people. I'll find my parents." I tell them. They nod, and we separate.
I ran up the kingdom steps, and went inside. "Mom! Dad! Where are you?!" I call out.
"Merlinda?" a weak voice answers. "Over here."
I rush to the voice's location. It was my mother, underneath a pilar that caught fire. "Mom!" I come closer.
"Merlinda, your safe." sage says to me.
"How did this happen? Where's dad?"
She gives me a sad look. I begin to cry, but I hold it in. "I'm getting you out of here." I tell her.
"No, you must forget about me. Take this."
She gives me a blue, crystal, teardrop necklace in the shape of an upside down diamond."What is it?" I ask.
"In time you will find out." Mom tells me. "It is tie for you to go. The world is not like it is here, Merlinda. You will confront many things. Just go!"
"I'm not leaving without you."
She looks up at the roofless castle, then, her expression turns to fear. "Run!" She yells.I look up, and see a shadow of a dragon coming towards us. I try to free my mom, but the dragon takes me away. "No!" I scream. As we fly off, the rest of the castle fell down. I break in tears, then, decide to kill the dragon that took me. I look at it, thinking it was the red dragon, but it was a black and purple dragon. This isn't good. I thought. "Help!" I shout as loud as I could. I paused for a second, as I witnessed my home kingdom crumbling straight to the ground. Edrin is no more.
"Everyone's been evacuated, and in route to Flamis. King Magnus said they could stay there; until we found a new home." said Ash.
"Great." Melody responded. "Have you seen Merlinda?"
"No."
"I haven't seen her either. Thanks for showing care."
"Sorry, it's just...I think I see Jace."
"What?!"
Melody looks ahead. Jace was behind a tree. He saw the two, and quickly went behind. "Just my luck." Melody complained. They walked over to Jace. "Why are you here?" Melody scolded.
"I was just checking on things." Jace responded. "Where's Merlinda?"
"I don't have to tell you."
"Easy, Melody." Ash tries to calm her. "We don't know, Jace."
"I know what happened to the princess." a villager said. The villager pointed upwards. "She was taken by a black and purple creature. Just before Edrin crumbled."
"Thank you." said Ash.
The villager went back to the group. When Ash and Melody turned around, Jace left. "Figures." Melody sighed.
"Hey, why are you so mean to him?" Ash asks.
"Something about him makes me uncomfortable, and I know he has an interest in Merlinda. I just don't want another Nathan on her back."
"Jace is nothing like him."
"He's hiding something. I know it, but never mind that. We have to get the people to safety. Then, we'll search for Merlinda."
Ash nodded. "Let's go."
