No more Guardian of Brooklyn

It's now been 6 months since he was released from his grave, and it has been the best 6 months he's had since he died.

He should've known it was too good to last.

Ahkmenrah woke up as normal, climbing out of his sarcophagus, unwrapping the linen from his body, and placing his crown on his head. (When Ahk if first let out of his tomb, if you look closely, you can actually see that his royal clothes are actually under the linen cloth wrapped around him) He carefully removed his Tablet from it's place on the tomb wall, still not liking being without it in his sight. He made his way to the entrance hall, where Larry will go through tonight's events and what they're doing. Hopefully he brought Nicky with him he thought. He and the boy had Immediately hit it off, with Ahk taking on the role of older brother. Ahk reached the entrance hall and joined the ever growing crowd surrounding the night guard.

Larry was quickly growing frustrated. He's been trying to get everyone's attention for 10 minutes now. "Come one guys! Guys!" Ahk made his way over the the night guard. "Would you like some assistance Guardian?"                                                                                                                                                  "Yes please, Ahk. And for the last time, it's Larry."  Ahk just grinned at him, "Of course Guardian of Brooklyn." Larry rolled his eyes and stepped aside to give Ahk the floor. Ahk stood there, looking into the eyes of anyone who looked his way. He stood up straight, looking exactly like the King he is, and spoke loudly and clearly. "SILENCE! Now, you will all stop talking and behave like the adults I know you are, and listen to what Larry has to say." And just like that, everyone's attention was on either the Pharaoh or the night guard.
"Thank you Ahk" ("Of course Larry") "Now that you are all listening to me, I have some... um... news. Tonight....is uhh... my last night here." And just like that, the hall was filled with yells of protest and questions. But one person wasn't making any noise at all. Ahkmenrah was staring at Larry. Just staring. He doesn't know what to think.

"Yeah I know! Guys! Listen!" Everyone stops yelling and stares expectantly at the night guard, waiting for him to say that it was a joke. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. "Look, you guys know that I love it here, and I love you guys, but, being a night guard doesn't pay for my bills. Something else has come up, and it's a job that will actually let me keep my apartment. I'm sorry guys, ok? I really am, but I have to think on what's best for me, and more importantly, what's best for Nicky. Now, speaking on Nicky, his Mom is dropping him off here, so I'm gonna need to step outside for a minute, and you all need to be quiet. We don't want to raise suspicions, alright?" Everyone agreed, albeit begrudgingly, and Larry nods and steps outside. Whispers break out between the exhibits. But one group was silent. Just glancing at each other. This group consisted of Ahkmenrah, Teddy, Sacagawea, Jed, Octavius, Atilla and Dexter. Jed looked around at his friends, a sombre look crossing his features. "What does this mean for us? Will we get a new night guard? What if we get locked up again?" Teddy looked at the miniature, whom was now standing on the Pharaoh's shoulder along with Octavius, and spoke in a calm voice. "I believe those are questions we should ask Larry when he returns." As he said this, Teddy placed one arm around Sacagawea, and placed a hand on the Pharaoh's other shoulder. Teddy had quickly come to think Ahk as a son, and the thought of him, and the others, getting locked up again upset him, though he kept his emotions in check. "We'll be fine." Ahk wasn't quite sure whether he was ensuring the others, or himself, when he said this.

After a few minutes of standing around in silence, listening to the concerns of the other exhibits, Larry returned with Nick by his side. The second the boy came in, he locked eyes with Ahk and ran straight over, wrapping his arms around the older boy. Ahk returned the gesture, needing a hug from his self-proclaimed little brother. After a few minutes, in which the others had gone to ask questions to the night guard, Nicky pulled out of the hug and looked up at Ahk. He really didn't want to stop coming to the museum. Everyone had quickly become his family, but he couldn't begin to imagine how scared his best friend must be. Ahk has slowly but surely opened up to everyone, showing more of his sarcastic side. Along with his dark humour, which, while slightly morbid, is amusing all the same. To suddenly find out that the 2 people who had brought everyone together wouldn't be coming back? He grabbed Ahk's hand and dragged him up to the night guard office. During the night, Nicky explained everything his father had told him to Ahk. He explained how there wouldn't be another night guard, as the museum can't afford to pay another night guard, so basically the museum, during the night, will be guarded by Teddy and Ahk himself. He explained that Ahk won't be locked away in his sarcophagus, and that he and his Dad would still visit, and managed to calm the young King. Two hours before sunrise, both boys decided to join everyone else once again.

They all sat around, Nicky still not leaving the Pharaoh's side, and just enjoyed each others company. And for once, Ahk did not have his Tablet in his arms. Instead he had an 10 year old boy who refuses to let go. And when the sun started to rise, Nicky was the one to accompany Ahk to his Tomb, giving him one last hug, and placing the lid back on the sarcophagus just as the sun rays reached the museum.
