Amity pov
Ugh, I'm so stupid. I shouldn't have said anything about it, now I really do have to tell her.
"I... I've had a crush on you for a long time now, and I didn't want it to be weird so I didn't tell you sooner, and... this was a mistake, I shouldn't have told you, I-"
I'm crying now. I hate this.
"Hey, hey, calm down! It's ok, I... I like you too!" she said, blushing intensely.
What? Really?
"You... do?" I say, stuttering with every word.
"I always have, I've just never had the chance to say it! The first time I say you, I thought you were so pretty. I almost couldn't take my eyes off of you! Even when you were mean to me, I knew I would be able to help you change eventually!"
Wow... I never knew I meant so much to her!
"I might be rushing this, but... can I kiss you?"
"Please," Luz said with a laugh.
We were now sitting up on her bed, face to face. I have never felt so nervous in my entire life. I leaned in closer.
When our lips touched, it was like the world had shifted. Like all of my problems had disappeared, never to be seen again. When I looked at her after, she had stars in her eyes.
"I..." I stammered, before Luz hugged me tightly.
"I wish this could last forever. I never want to let go ever again." she whispered.
"Me neither," I say.
We both lie back down and fall asleep cuddling. I woke up again at two a.m., but it was so comfortable I didn't want to move. Of course, I woke up because I needed water. I tried to get up as quietly as possible, but I woke Luz up anyway.
"Amity?"
"I'm sorry, I just needed water. I didn't mean to wake you!"
"It's ok, but now that I'm awake I can tell you about the awesome dream I just had!"
"Ok, I'll go get some water and you can tell me when I come back."
The hallway was so dark, I didn't notice I was in the kitchen until I bumped into the counter. I grabbed a cup and started to fill it up with water.
When I walked back to Luz's room, she was already asleep. I slipped under the blankets silently as Luz turned over and grabbed me, pulling me closer to her.
"Goodnight..." she whispered.
"Goodnight," I whispered back.
