nobunaga is deadly silent after i reveal the already known information put in venomous words. i grin inwardly and wait for the phantom troupe to come to a decision. suddenly, it hits me that alejandro - no, leorio, has gone quiet. i smile again. i think he's caught on that perhaps i'm not so weak, and that i've got this all figured out.
even though this entire situation is one that i never wanted, and that even two months with the phantom troupe isn't good, i know that it's better than being enslaved by them for the rest of eternity. isn't it?
finally, the hushed chatter around my house has gone quiet. i gulp, nervous to hear what their decision is.
chrollo comes up to me, before slightly smiling at me. "they must like you very much, because they've agreed to your terms."
my eyes widen, and i can't stop a small smile from slipping out. "thank you," i whisper to him.
"oh, don't thank me. it was all machi and shalnark. now, you'll be in yorknew city soon?"
oh. perhaps shalnark really did care about me. i look around chrollo and spot shalnark. he winks at me and i chuckle softly, the weight and stress of what's happening finally hitting me. i'm still sitting on the floor, knees up, so i balance my elbow on my left knee and run my hand over my face, before resting it on my forehead. i turn back to chrollo. "yeah. in a week, i think. alejandro?"
i call out for leorio, hoping he's still on the call. thankfully, he is, and he can confirm when i'm going. "i'll send you the money so you can buy a ticket," leorio tells me, and the entire room.
"save it," shizuku calls out. "we'll pay for her, since we're going over as well."
"oh but -"
chrollo takes my phone and presses the end button, ending the call. he turns back to me and hands the phone.
"thank you, shizuku."
she beams at me and nods her head.
"and yes, i'll be in yorknew this month."
"alright." chrollo starts walking towards the door, the phantom troupe following him. he pauses, his hand wrapped around the doorknob, opening it. "meet us at the airport tomorrow, at 8.00 AM. we'll fly you out to yorknew city. there, you'll be set free for a month. then, you'll be staying with us for two. then you'll be allowed out again.
"there are also a few conditions, and i expect you to remember them. one, don't change your phone number. that phone number is the only way we can contact you, at the moment. so don't change it. if you do, then we will track you to the ends of the earth and find you. you won't find us so nice then, y/n. second, there is no designated times for the two months. just know that when we contact you and tell you it is time for the two months, we'll give you a destination. you will find a way to meet us there and you will stay with us for two months. then you'll be free once more. and lastly: you're not going to be telling anyone about this agreement. i don't want another soul hearing about this. you tell your cousin alejandro that as well. if i hear one rumour about this, you'll wish you never told anyone."
and with that, they left. i slump to the floor, laying down on the carpet, small, happy tears crawling out of my eyes. i let out a small laugh before quickly grabbing my phone and calling leorio.
"leorio!" i cry out, sobbing quietly in happiness.
"y/n? how are you? they hung up on me. are you crying? did your proposal actually work, or were they playing a sick joke on you? that'd be so fucked up if it was a joke. wait, is that the real reason why you're crying?"
