Rose rolled her eyes while complaining, "What did he do this time?"
"Forget it," I said while walking away to go back to my room. I had wanted to visit her so that I could talk about my interaction with Azias last night. I hadn't texted her about it because I had felt so emotional that I just wanted to be left alone.
"Hey, wait," Rose called out while running after me.
I spun around and asked, "Let me guess, you didn't mean it like that? No one seems to these days. Don't wanna talk anymore anyways."
"No, I meant what I said, it's just that the irritation was for him not you," Rose explained. "Why are you so moody anyways?" I sighed, and right when I was going to answer, Azias came walking down the stairs. "Hey, Reaper, can I ask you something...other than this question?"
Azias stopped walking, looked at me, and then at Rose before asking, "What?"
"What's going on with you two?" I looked at Rose as if she had lost her mind. She must've to had asked Azias that. "You're both always in an argument or have some sort of tension. I know it's not my place, but-"
"Exactly, it's not. If your best friend has an issue with me she can address me like an adult instead of playing the silent game," Azias cut Rose off.
Rose looked at me and smiled, "Well, you two have fun with that," before walking off, and Azias looked at me with raised eyebrows, a nonverbal ask of whether I wanted to talk to him about it.
I sighed and sat on the stairs, and he sat beside me but remained quiet. "I...feel a type of way."
"About what exactly?" he asked, and I continued to avoid eye contact.
"Well, the day after you," I then whispered, "watched me masturbate, I thought that you and I were having a little moment before you had to go. Then you got hurt, and I came to check on you and help take care of you and you made it seem as if I was some gold digger. We have that argument, don't talk for five days, and then you have sex with another girl. I know you don't do feelings or whatever, but for my sake, I'd rather you not try to kiss me or call me pretty if you're just fooling around."
From my peripheral view, I saw him nod, and he then apologized, "I'm sorry for hurting your feelings. I wasn't trying to call you a gold digger either. I've just had instances where the women I'd have around me would sometimes put on a front to try to stay around longer. I know you're not like them, and I shouldn't have assumed or pretended that you were. I was wrong for that, and I apologize for offending you in any way."
"I accept your apology," I nodded, still not giving him eye contact. He gently turned my chin so that I could look into his eyes.
"I wasn't fooling around either. I'm actually glad the call came in when it did, because I'm pretty sure kissing you would've made things worse," he sighed.
"How so?" I asked, even though I wasn't sure if I wanted to hear his answer. I'd only end up more hurt or confused.
"I got a call about one of my operations going left, so I pulled up to sort it out. When I got there, a shoot out started," he explained.
"Okay...?"
"Amid the shoot out, my mind started drifting. For a while I was just thinking about you and how much I still wanted to kiss you. Next thing I know, I'm on the floor with a bullet that, luckily, only grazed my waist," he explained.
"Oof," I let out, and he looked at me with an unamused face. "My fault," I smiled sheepishly.
"I'm catching feelings for you," he stated, and I could tell from how seriously he said it and from the look in his eyes that he wasn't joking around. He was actually being serious. He...he liked me...
