LILA'S POV
Bullets. Someone was shooting us and there was nothing I could do about it. I didn't fucking carry my gun and now I am being held down by Alex cause he refuses to let me go.
"ALEX YOU HAVE TO LET ME GO. THEA IS OUT THERE" I screamed above the sounds of the firing guns.
"NO. YOU WILL HURT YOURSELF. THEA IS UNDER THE TABLE. NOTHING WILL HAPPEN. STAY PUT" He screamed back trying to sound as confident as he could. But I knew he was scared. His voice shook a little and his hands tightened around my waist.
He wasn't letting me go. DAMMIT. I watched from under the cashier table, as Thea crouched on her elbow and knees, hands covering her ears. She hates loud noises. I had to do something. Trying to remove Alex's hand from my waist was difficult. It's not that I wasn't strong but the position we were in gave him an advantage.
"ALEX LISTEN TO ME. SHE IS SCARED. YOU HAVE TO LET ME GO. I HAVE BEEN TRAINED FOR SITUATIONS LIKE THIS DAMMIT. LET ME GO"
"I SAID NO" Anger was evident in his voice. This guy has no right to be mad at me. That's the only person I consider family left on this planet. I will be damned before I let anything happen to her.
Taking a deep breath, I wrapped both my legs around Alex's waist and used his shoulder as support to flip us both. He clearly didn't see it coming cause his eyes had widened and his hands on me were now almost bruising my skin. Shaking his hands with extreme force, I got up and ran towards the closest table around Thea.
She was trying to move.
"DON'T FUCKING MOVE THEA. DON'T" I screamed
I doubted for a second if she heard me over the firing but when she stopped moving I thanked God. Where the fuck is the police. This cafe was in the middle of the damn city, how come they still haven't been alerted.
My phone. I tried to reach for my phone, only to find my jeans pocket empty. FOR GOD'S SAKE. I screamed again, cause the bullets didn't seize
"THEA PLEASE DON'T MOVE. PLEASE"
I didn't want to admit it but it was the first time in a very long time, I felt fear seeping into my skin. And the fear wasn't even for my safety. It was for that girl that lay in the middle of death. The bullets continued to hit the bakery walls, and the customer that sat on the table above Thea was dead. His blood was splattered and I knew that Thea wouldn't be able to handle the gruesome scene.
After three minutes, the guns finally stopped. I didn't move though. I waited for a few more minutes and finally moved when I heard the cars leaving and the bakery was filled with a deadly silence. Getting on my feet I quickly ran towards Thea and grabbed her by her shoulder. She was shaking and her eyes were filled with terror. What she was seeing was a dead man and blood.
"THEA. THEA. LOOK AT ME. HEY, HEY, LOOK AT ME"
I tried to calm her down as I held her face in my hand. Tears streamed down her face and it broke my heart. I promised to protect her.
"You are okay. you are safe. you are okay" I said, trying to comfort her. I don't know if it was her I was assuring or myself.
"Are you hurt? Do you feel any pai..." I needed to know that she wasn't hurt. But before I could ask her the sound of sirens echoed.
"Goddammit. why the fuck are they so late" I was pissed and someone was going to be on the receiving end of my anger. Grabbing Thea's hands I dragged her towards the entrance. I wanted her away, a thousand miles away from blood and death.
Right before I reached the entrance I felt Thea collapsing on the ground. Turning around, I saw her on her knees, hands on her chest, breathing erratically.
