As the the figure moved closer and closer, Alice closed her eyes and began waiting for her imminent demise.
"Get it over with!" she screamed.
Suddenly she felt something wiping her leg. She was stunned to see a woman wiping her wounds.
"Who are you." she asked.
"I am a humble servant of Lord Manus," the woman replied.
Alice was shocked to hear the woman's reply,"LORD MANUS!!!"
The woman was suprised, "Why? Do you have something against Lord Manus?"
"No. It's just--"
"Come now, Alice, speak up." said a voice from outside the room.
"Is that you Lord Manus?'
"Hello, Faith, Alice," said an old man while walking through the doorway. "Why do you looked so surprised Alice?"
"It's just--"
"No need to say anything, Alice," Manus said laughingly.
Alice was furious,"YOU!!! You made Damon leave Cosme City, you made me lose my partner!!"
Manus was surprised, "Now, now, Alice, no need to be furious. It was his dream to become a Keeper. He just fulfilled his dream. Now it's time to fulfill yours."
"I don't have one!" Alice said furiously.
"Everyone has a dream. No one is exempted."
"Except me!!"
"Surely you of all people have one."
"Well---"
"Well what?"
"My dream is to become a Hunter."
"A manhunter?"
"No, a treasure hunter."
"Ahhh, I see."
"Will you help me become one?"
"If only I could."
"Oh---"
"But I may know some people who can help you."
"Really?"
"Oh yes, we'll go tommorow. Now get some sleep, your body hasn't recovered from the bite yet."
"Understood."
As Alice slept, she dreamt of what it would be like to be a Hunter. Alice was already awake when the first cocks crowed. She put on her clothes and went out to eat. Manus saw her, "Where are you going?"
"To get something to eat. I'm starving."
"Nonsense! We'll let the help prepare something to eat."
"Well, okay then."
Manus called out to his help,"Girls".
"Yes sire?"
"I need you to feed our guest," Manus requested.
"As you wish."
They sat down and ate breakfast.
"So, Manus, where are we going," Alice asked.
"To an old friend," Manus said.
After they finished up with breakfast, they hurriedly went out to find Manus' friend.
"So, where are we going?" Alice asked.
"To Laren City. That's where the best Hunters live."
"So who are we gonna vist there?"
"Faith, the best Hunter I know.
Suddenly a gust of wind blew from the east. They then found themselves in a lofty mansion full of exquisite items.
"So, who called my name?" a lady in a fine chair covered with gold asked.
"Faith, how nice to see you." Manus said.
"Very nice to see you to Manus."
"So you're Faith, huh?" Alice asked.
"That's the name I go by. Might sound a little ironic, since I steal."
"Yeah, kinda does."
"So, you want to become a Hunter, huh?" Faith asked.
"Well, yes. I want to explore the world and--"
"We won't have incessent chit-chat here. So here's your first test, come with me on a Hunt."
"Sure. How about my equipment?"
"You will be stealing your own equipment."
"Steal my own--," then a gust of wind ble and Alice found herself in the armory. She crept about silently. She reached the weapons room and stole a knife. But she was seen by a guard.
"Halt!! Intruder!!"
