9 Jackson's Secret Girl

As the lift doors closed, you felt a nudge from Mark who was with you on the way to return Jackson's dog, to the unsuspecting neighbour - a girl whom he unwillingly admitted to be dating.

Mark motioned to his neck, indicating to you that something was up with the necklace she had on her neck.

Staring hard, you realise it was the one you heard about that Jackson had a J engraved in it. Thanks to your intense gaze the girl caught your eyes and turned to you, surprised - she recognised you instead.

"Aren't you Mandy?" said the girl whom you suspected was 'Jackson's new beau'.
Looking closely at her, you try to recall if she was familiar or if she was someone you knew. 3 seconds later the lift door opened.

"Do.... I know you?" you answered somewhat hesitantly.
"Well, umm not really, but I know you... in fact both of you." the girl replied.

Mark held the dog carrier up, "Do you know him?" pointing at Wangwang, Jackson's dog.

"Wangwang! Oh but why...... umm, would you like to come in to my place?" she invited both of you in since the door had been awkwardly open for an extended period of time. "I'm Jae, and I help your friend Jackson with Wangwang, you must be Mark and Mandy, I've heard much about both of you.." for some reason, she blushed while speaking and shyly led you both to her doorstep.

You figured at this point that Jackson must have told her to head home quickly knowing that you were going to look for her, hence the chanced meeting.

Mark gave you the raised brow repeatedly to affirm that indeed she was the one, trying his best to make you probe further. You however, were still a little awkward even though she was a girl too but you just found it hard to make small talks like these. Finally some words found your mouth and you broke the silence as you stepped in.

"Wow that's a nice place you have...it's no wonder Jackson leaves his dog with you.........." not knowing how and when to delve into the topic of 'dating Jackson per se', you decide to converse about every other thing.

"Oh you have a dog too?? and a cat... aww... so sweet...what are their names?" you asked as you crouched down to pat her kitten and dog.

"The cat is Laura and the dog is Katie... I have 2 hamsters as well here... but his name is a little..." Jae's voice trailed off in slight embarrassment while showing you the hamster cage. On it wrote a small wooden sign which you recognized instantly as Jackson's irregular kiddy handwriting - 'Mark+Mandy'.

"Whoaaattttt?" Mark burst out laughing uncontrollably, seeing his own name in a stranger's house, as the names of someone else's pet. Hurriedly, Jae explained.

"Well you see, because my name starts with J so the first pet I had was Katie, and then came L for Laura, and when I took in these 2 hamsters, Jackson liked them very much and often bought their treats and playthings. So I told him that he could name them. So he said he had 2 friends that always stuck together but they couldn't live together and their names started with M as well.... but I didn't know that we would meet in this way......" she said with a blush that had spread to her whole face.

You found this girl to be such a kind and soft-spoken person that you understood why Jackson was drawn to her. With such a boisterous character that was always impulsive and carefree, it was no wonder he would find solace in a partner that made up for whatever he lacked. You started to like her already.
"It's okay don't worry about it... in fact I think it's quite cute, haha. But how could you have recognized me if we haven't met?" you asked, puzzled.

"Umm, Jackson does tell me alot of stories about you guys and sometimes shows me the pictures you guys take at your gatherings. Since the rest of them are guys, it was easy to remember your face. I also met Chelsea when she was walking Wangwang." Jae replied, while she helped to let Wangwang out of the carrier to roam free with her other pets.
