After being away for almost 6 years you didn't realize you'll be back to this place. You weren't even sure if the decision to be back here again and accept Fury's offer to you to be his other Deputy Director along with Maria Hill was the right thing. It's been a while and a lot of things had changed.

You know that you both have changed, you're just not sure if it's for the best or worst. You're scared that seeing her again might make your feelings resurface for her but is it enough to make you mend or crumble?

"Hey."
"Hey."
"Why are you here?"
"Work." You then walked away, not sparing another glance. You need to find Fury and decide if this shit is really worth it. As you left, you didn't see the frown and heartbroken face she had.

For the second time, you just left.

"Nicholas you better pray to your god that this is all worth it. I had an amazing job back in Australia leading the team there and you fucking drag me here again."
"Y/N, you know for a fact that this is your place. It has always been your home. Plus I need you here. After Pierce, I need someone with me in the Alpha Level, you've worked with me for years. I need my oldest friend, please." All your life Fury never begs, if he does you know he is being serious and doing it as a last resort to convince you. He never let anyone see that he is human too.

With a heavy sighed you said,
"You better give me the finest office here. I had an amazing office and view in Aus. I don't know why I'm choosing to give that beautiful paradise up."
"After all these years you've never changed at all Y/L/N. You can work today if you want, I know how you love being in the loop of everything." He said chuckling at your attitude that never seize to amaze him even back when you were just starting ascending clearance after clearance and rank level in SHIELD.
"Yeah. Yeah. I know you missed me old man. When have I ever turned down reading and tinkering with the guns? You gonna give me a tour or what?" You said while taking the coffee you saw in his desk.
"Hey! That's mine!"
"Chop chop oldie. Gotta find my way around here before I broke bones and shoot up people."

As he showed you to the new labs and places around the compound, you realized there are a lot of new faces. You double take and asked your mentor and friend.
"Uhmm Eyepatch, who are these people? Where are the old mates? Coulson? I haven't even seen May? She still wanna kick my ass? She was a promising agent when I left."
"Y/N... she asked for a demotion, after an incident."
"Oh... how did she take it? They were both close." You know Fury knows who you are referring too.
"She was devastated among others but you know how she is. She doesn't show her emotion. Just like when you left."
"Hmm... okay."
"She got a bit agressive too, like after a few weeks when you left. Especially that time when Maria was you know..."
"Yeah... I'm sorry if I didn't want to answer the phone back then. Will Hill be angry in seeing me?"
"Well... find out yourself." He said while looking at the person behind you. As you turned around, you saw Maria and you were scared for a second but tried to maintain your stoic face. You were ready for a fight if she ever wants to kick your ass for abandoning her. However, you didn't expect the reaction you got.

"You bitch! I missed you." She said throwing her arms around you and giving you a tight hug.
"Hill, I still wanna be alive so I can work here. Can't breathe too tight." You said while she reluctantly let go. She really have missed your sarcastic ass.
"Why are you here? When are you leaving?"
"I've miss you too, asshat. You want me to leave already? I just got here." You raised your eyebrow and gave her your signature smirk.
"Why are you here then?"
"Well... Fury had an offer I couldn't resist." You looked at Nick, he gave you an amused smile.
"No? Are you? Really?"
"Yup. My own office and lab too." You cheekily said.
"Huh... is this favoritism I see?"
"Oh babe. You know I've been always his favourite kid." You winked and the three of you laughed. The three of you started walking again and continued the tour. Saying your hi and hellos to the familiar faces you saw and remembered.
