“Enoch, make a hole in this thing!” Naglfar exclaimed whilst pointing to the ground beneath them.
Enoch smiled before reaching into his pocket, pulling out a bundle of explosive projectiles in the shape of fragmentation grenades, “Let’s just get this over with, I don’t want this thing’s entrails all over me.” He muttered before launching the explosives at the ground near them, causing the beast to roar in anger. The projectiles burst a hole open from beneath them, pieces of debris and bone scattered off in every direction whilst the two warriors held their arms up to cover their eyes. They both ran and dived into the open hole, falling down into darkness with only the opening as a source of light, “Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think this is the most humane way of killing this thing.” Enoch stated, attempting to wipe blood from his coat.
Naglfar shrugged before looking onward, there seemed to be no real form of navigation inside the being, “I’ll cut through its tissue, we’ll continue until we find its heart. Then we’ll burst it.” He said before splitting the flesh in front of him, the tissue cutting with ease before oozing blood, “The longer we stand here the longer it’ll take!”
The two ran through, cutting down everything in sight. The ground beneath them became unstable as the creature began to lose balance, the moist surroundings causing them to slip and slide before eventually a creature emerged from one of the walls. Pink and surging with blood, the beast was huge towering far over them. It seemed to resemble an earthworm, only with sharp spines flowing down its back and carnivorous fangs. The two stood in awe at the sight before striking immediately, decapitating it. Its head falling to the ground before merging with the surrounding tissue creating a second creature, the worms writhed in their presence intimidating them with a otherworldly screech, “Watch out Captain, it seems so long as we are inside this thing the creatures are invincible.” Enoch stated, grasping hold of various throwing knives.
Naglfar stood battle ready, “Then we must bypass them, we don’t have time for this!”
At that moment Enoch prepared to throw his knives, “Don’t worry, I’ll impale them on the wall instead!” Enoch threw his knives toward them in an attempt to thrust them back into the wall behind but to no avail. The weapons simply passed through the creatures, their body sealing back up from where the knives shot through, “That was highly unexpected, what shall we do?” He said before gasping suddenly, “Captain, stop! You’ll just spawn more!” He shouted as he watched Naglfar charge toward them, cutting through with ease only to create more enemies in their place.
Naglfar bellowed as he struck, “You idiot! Use your explosives to blow a hole in the ground below us! They’ll fall through!”
Naglfar tried his best as to hold them off, bashing them backwards with his shield and slashing with his blade. Enoch reached into his coat to pull out some explosive projectiles, these ones of a weaker magnitude than the last. He threw them at the ground beneath Naglfar and in an instant the projectiles exploded causing the ground to split and crack. Given barely any warning, Naglfar fell with them to the chasm below, sustaining little damage due to his plated armour. Enoch walked over casually before looking down at Naglfar, who was still fighting the creatures, “Sorry Captain, perhaps I should have warned you first?” He mocked with an attitude.
Naglfar knocked the worms away before looking up, “I’ll find my way out of this mess, continue onward to find the heart.” He barked before turning his attention back to the worms, keeping them at bay.
Enoch smiled before taking two black gauntlet shaped objects off from his waist. He attached them to his arms. They gauntlets protruded four long blades like a claw only jagged edged. Enoch began to slice his way through the interior searching for the beast’s heart until eventually he found it, deep inside the beast’s interior was a giant beating heart surrounded with arteries trailing off into other areas of the body. Not wasting any time Enoch charged toward each artery and sliced them open with ease, large volumes of blood spilling from the open holes. The Eastern Gate Guardian felt the immense pain from within it, its body began to thrash about and shake. Before long it had lost all feeling in its legs before collapsing, vomiting blood from the mouth. In moments the creature died, rendered lifeless in the land. Still inside Enoch made his way toward Naglfar who surprisingly was still fighting the worms, “Having fun are we Captain?”
