Part of his surprise, Saleem had hired a low sports car that was parked in the hotel's private car park. "You know we drive on the right side, in Australia?" she asked, belting up.

He flashed a look of displeasure. "Yes, the same as London."

Oh, she mouthed. "You have a license to drive here?" With that, he slammed the gear into place and turned on the ignition. "Um, that's first. You need to be in reverse," she pointed out straight-faced as he turned on her, eyes deadly.

"Where is the trust, I ask you?" he asked, clicking his tongue.

"Just doing a checklist. Do you know how to use that?" she pointed out the gadget on the dashboard that gave directions.

"Yes," he grated, then sighed, sitting back in his chair and crossing his arm, shaking his head. "Any more on your checklist before we go?"

She eyed him sideways, scraping her teeth over her bottom lip. "Not that I can think of, so where are we going."

"I told you a surprise. Now can we leave without the drama and comments?"

"As long as you think is it safe to do so," she dared.

He growled deep in his throat. "I should leave you behind."

She laughed with delight. "I'm sorry, Saleem. I don't know Brisbane at all."

"Good thing we are heading out of Brisbane, then, isn't it?"

"I'm just glad I'm not the one driving," she wiggled into the contour of the car seat that was incredibly comfortable, slipping on sunglasses as Saleem reversed out, after placing in an address, turning the steering wheel one-handed, drove out of the underground car park and emerged into traffic with confidence that oozed out of him.

How could she doubt his skill when he was so comfortable?

"I guess this would be easier than driving around London."

"Anywhere new is always challenging. I have a rough idea of where I am going. There are a lot of one-way streets around this area."

Turning her head, she smiled at him lazily. "Being doing your homework, I see." The warm morning sun on her face was nice. She never had been in a low-throaty sports car before.

A lot of firsts for her as well. With ease, he shifted through the gears, making his way through a busy, congested city. Not quite peak hour traffic, yet still so busy, soon to be on a major highway, the M1 heading out of the city, having no inkling where they were going.

Heather gasped as they passed a road sign. 'Gold Coast' "We are going there!" she squealed. "My first time," she said, clapping her hands with excitement. He reached across and squeezed her knee.

"Only the beginning of your fun," he promised.

"I'm so glad we have the time to do this. Thank you," she couldn't help smiling. "The beach is unbelievable. Are we just there for the day?"

"We'd see how it goes. I did plan to go back late this afternoon. How about we just take the day as we find it?"

"That's why you had us up at the crack of dawn?"

"Best time of the day."

"That's debatable. I'm more of a night owl than a morning person."

"Oh, you're one of those people."

"What type is that?" she asked warily, eyeing him off behind her sunglasses.

"One's that like to sleep in."

She nodded. "However, this is nice."

"Yes, it is. I don't drive as much as I would like to, so this is a treat. It had been a while with all my commitments."
