Y/n's Pov

"Ok everyone, line up." The front man said. Immediately, I lined up in the row for all of the people with the square masks.

There are rankings here for the 'Pink Soldiers' if you didn't know.

The mask with a circle is the lowest of the three. All they would have to do is to dispose of the bodies of the players.

The mask with a triangle is second in ranking. They're like actual soldiers, carrying around submachine guns(SMG) which are from the 'Heckler & Koch MP5' series. These guns are from West Germany, having a 800-900 rounds/min for their rate of fire and a cartridge of 9×19mm Parabellum. Yes, I know a lot about guns. Mostly because I had to be trained and tested about all the different guns that we use.

Last but not least, is the masks with a square, which is my position. These people are kind of the bosses when the Front Man isn't around. You might be thinking that the Front Man is the mastermind. But he's not, my grandfather is, he's the host of the game. The highest of the highest.

I didn't get the square position just because I was blood, I had to work my way up from the circle to the square. The time when I was a triangle kinda scarred me for life. Hearing those people beg for me to spare them but I just couldn't. I would be the one to get killed if I did spare their lives.

"Ok so I want all the Circles to get ready because it's reaching midnight. You have to get our players." The Front Man demanded.

"Number 67. I want you to come with me. You are opening and making announcements to the players, everyone else. You know your jobs. If you don't, you're eliminated. Go." The Front Man told them.

I made my way towards him, I'm number 67 if that wasn't clear enough. Soldiers and Players both have numbers. It varies from the number of players we have, but it always starts with 002.

"You called for me sir." I said, putting my hands behind my back, standing up straight.

"Yes. Number 67, this is your first year as a Square. If you do your job right, when your grandfather retires, you get to be heir to the games. You would be the host." The Front Man informed me, patting my shoulder.

"Now go on, do your job." He commanded

"Yes sir." I bowed and went to do what I had to do, ensure that the mechanics, the rooms and all the games are in proper working order.

*Time skip*

While walking towards the room where all of the players are in, I heard a huge commotion. Damn... this happens a lot. Something about a pickpocket and North Korea...

I walked in the room with the circles, mostly so that we wouldn't scare them away immediately if the triangles tagged along. When we walked in, all the attention was on us. My voice was caught in my throat... I never had to speak to a crowd this big...

"I would like to extend a hearty welcome to you all. Everyone here will participate in six different games over six days. Those who win all six games will get a handsome cash prize." I said, it was pretty standard. The same announcement was said throughout the course of all the years we had this game.

As expected, a huge amount of questions were asked.

"How are we supposed to believe you? You suddenly put us to sleep, take our phones and wallets away. Then bring us to this mysterious place. Now you show up saying you'll pay us handsomely for playing a few games? Do you expect us to believe that?" One player asked. Of course they're gonna ask that. I rolled my eyes behind my mask... we're giving you money and you don't wanna take it... fine.

"We reluctantly took those measures to maintain our confidentiality bringing you here. We'll return everything once the games are over." I explained to them, when I heard someone else ask another question. I miss being a circle to be honest...

"How come you are wearing those masks?" Another player asked.

"We do not disclose the faces and personal information of our staff to the participants. It's a measure we take for the fairness of games and privacy. Please understand." I explained as nicely as possible.

"I don't trust a word you just said. You lured, kidnapped and locked us up. You make all kinds of excuses to keep yourself hidden after all those illegal actions. Give us one good reason why we should trust you." Another smart alec asked. Damn... when will they just shut the fuck up. They're the ones who called the number and get in the van. They had a choice.

"Player 218. Cho Sang-woo." I said, looking at his number. I used a remote to show a video of the man playing ddakji with the "salesman".

"Age: 46. Former team leader of Team Two at Joy Investments. Siphoned money from his clients. Then invested in derivatives and future options with it and failed. Current loss, 650 million won." I said. Then I continued talking about some of the other players, starting with the players who asked those dumbass questions. I really wonder how they could be in so much debt.

"All of you in this room are living on the edge, with debts you just can't pay off. When we first went to see you, none of you trusted us. But as you know, we played a game and gave you money as promised. So everyone here trusted us and volunteered to participate in this game of your own free will. I'll give you one last chance to choose." I paused, knowing that there was a lot of information they had to take in.

"Will you go back to living your lousy life being chased by your creditors? Or will you grab the last opportunity we're offering here?" I asked.

"What kind of games are we playing?" Another player asked, I was already on the edge, but luckily this player didn't show me any attitude.

"In order to play fair. We cannot disclose any information on the games ahead of time." I answered him.

"Excuse me." Another player asked, while raising up his hand. At least some people here are respectful.

"Just how much is the prize money?" He asked.

I used the remote to bring in a giant piggy bank from the ceiling. It glowed in a bright yellow light.

"Your prize money will be accumulated in the piggy bank after every game." As the piggy bank was coming down from the ceiling, everyone was looking at the piggy bank in awe.

"We will disclose the amount to everyone after the first game is over. If you do not wish to participate, please let us know now." I told them, smirking behind the mask, knowing that we just gained their trusts.

I pressed the remote once again so that the piggy bank would go back into the ceiling. All the different players started lining up to sign the consent forms that the circles were giving out.

As I was supervising, I looked closely at every player. When one girl who was considerably younger than the others came up to sign the form. She looked familiar. I was intrigued by this player. I looked at her number. 067. I softly smiled behind the mask... we're matching numbers.

She looked at me, knowing that I was the superior among the others. That's when I held eye contact with the girl. Those eyes... they seem so familiar. That's when it hit me. They were talking about North Korea before we came in. The girl from the border five years ago. The girl who wanted to go to Jeju Island. The one who still had my 'My Little Pony' handkerchief.
