Riley's POV:
"Come on!" I yelled to Brian, "I'll race ya!"
"Alright!" he yelled back, "I'm comin'! Wait up!"
I slowed down for him but then sped right up. I beat him to the merry-go-round, and started pushing it.
"Why are you pushing it?!" Brian asked. "For all I know, I should be pushing it. You won the race!"
"Eh..." I trailed off. "Why not?"
Sooner of later, he started helping me.
"What are you doing?"
"Helping you," he said with his head up high. "Anyone needs the help they can get."
I stared at him for a brief moment, then ran away and yelled, "I'll race ya to the MONKEY BARS!"
Later that day, we brought milk to the little kids, those kindergarten and first graders. The principle chose a random group out of our class to brink milk to the little kids each day of school, except for Wednesdays. He chose five out of our class, including me, Brian, and my best friend, Rachel. Rachel and I have been friends since kindergarten. It all started when I dropped my purple sparkly pencil.
"Oops!" I said reaching down for it off the floor.
Rachel swooped down and got it. "Here ya go!"
"Gee! Thanks!" I said. "What's your name?"
"Rachel!" she yipped extending her hand out for me to shake it. "Nice to meet you..."
"Riley," I said shaking her hand. "Nice to meet you too." Later that day, we went off and played with each other ar recess. We've been friends ever since.
"I got the heavy one!" my friend Beth yelled barging in front of us. Brian and I looked at each other and smiled, the looked back at Beth. All of us grabbed a milk container and headed for teh kindergarten and first grade building. After we dropped the milk off, we headed back for our sixth grade building.
"I can't believe my birthday is next week!" squeaked Rachel.
"Wait," Brian started off, "what day is it?"
"February 18th."
Brian started laughing. "Ha ha! I'm gonna be gone that week. I'm going hunting up north."
"Ha ha, whatever..." Rachel said, "I really don't care."
Brian and Rachel were good friends. They both sat next to each other in class. They both went to advanced algebra. They were also sometimes rivals. Brian always joked around with Rachel, and sometimes did the same with me.
When the school bell rang, we all zoomed out of the classroom, and to our bookbags out in the hallway. Brian pulled out his banana he had left over from lunch and did something, I thought was funny, but also immature.
"Hey guys! watch this!" He stuck the banana in and out of his mouth repeating. I laughed, even though I souldn't of. I guess it's what any twelve year old boy would do at their age; they're growing up.
"See ya tomorrow Riley!" he waved to me.
"See ya."
After I left the building, I went into the 4K building to where my mom was working. She worked Mondays and Thursdays to help out with all thirty annoying four-year old's. I sat down in a chair once I got there. I suddenly felt my phone buzz in my pocket. It was Brian.
See u tomorrow douche face:)
I responded.
Asshole... C ya tomorrow.
I smiled and put my phone away. I turned and looked at the window to see a face full of Rachel. I got up of the chair and let her in.
"Whacha want?" I asked her.
"Who ya textin'?"
"None of-"
"Just kidding!" she said stealing my phone from my back pocket.
"Douche face? Wow..." she trailed off reading all my texts from Brian.
"Gimme my phone back!" I demanded her grabbing my phone, and she let go.
"Gee wiz Riley!" she sarcastically said, looking away from me. I smiled reading my past texts from Brian. She then looked at me with a smirk on her face. "You like him... Don't you?"
I didn't realize what she said for a moment, but when I did, I looked her straight in the eyes and said, "Brian? No, not my type." She leaned closer to me so that I could feel her breath against my neck. I gave her a funny look. She raised her eyebrows. "Alright! Alright," I said pushing her away. "Maybe just a little." I could tell by her next look that she was disappointed with my answer. I huffed and puffed, and then revealed myself.
"Yeah, I guess I do."
