Kamisama of courage (a kamisama hajimemashita/kamisama kiss fanfic)

Chapter 1

- Suki's pov -

Home, I'm finally back... home. It's been so long, almost a hundred years actually that I have been in the shrine. Sure I've been around to make sure it doesn't start to break down and to help my followers when they're in real need of my help. I walked into the shrine and took in the sights of it since I left. It looks the same as it did a hundred years ago. Suddenly I was tackled by two balls of fur.

"Lady Suki! You're back!" I laughed and smiled at my two shrine spirits Yui and Yuki. Yui was a girl wolf pup with white fur and black tipped ears, tail, and paws. Yuki was a boy wolf pup with black fur and white tipped ears, tail, and paws. They were here to help me when I was born in this shrine as its Goddess.

"Hi Yui! Hi Yuki! It's so nice to see you two again! Don't worry, I should stay here for a long time to come. I'm coming back to be a god again!" They both yipped and snuggled further into my chest.

"Hooray! Lady Suki has come back! We must host a celebration! Should we invite the other gods? Many have come to see you while you were gone, they were worried about your sudden disappearance." I winced, I am so dead if they find out I'm back.

"No, please don't. How about we invite Mikage though? He actually was the only one that knew where I was. I just talked to him a week ago." The two pups looked at each other before back to me.

"He gave his Shrine and god powers to a human recently Lady Suki. Though over twenty years ago he disappeared like you did." My eyes narrowed slightly. I noticed something was different about him.

"Come on. We have a new god to meet." They nodded and hopped onto my shoulders as I made a cloud and flew towards the other side of town where Mikage shrine was.

- time skip -

I landed at the shrine gates and Yui and Yuki floated beside me. I admit, it looks really cute when they float, don't think about that right now Suki. I went up to the door and slammed it opened.

"Mikage! So help me if what I heard was true then you are dead!" Tomoe came into the room and winced.

"Hello Lady Suki. Mikage is no longer here. I now have a new lady and mistress Lady Nanami." I growled and looked around.

"Is she here? I want to meet her." He shook his head.

"She is at a thing humans call school. I stayed home today because I had sensed you in the area and thought you might come for a visit. Do you want some sake?" I shook my head.

"You know I don't like sake. If it isn't too much trouble I would like some tea though." He nodded and I followed him into the kitchen to see another familiar, Mizuki. Whats he doing here?

"Mizuki? What are you doing here?" I knew that his mistress died but that didn't explain why he was here.

"Lady Nanami is my new mistress now!" I nodded, two familiars huh? I don't even have one much less two. Actually, I don't think there is a god that does have two that I know of and trust me there is a lot of gods.

"Hmm, two familiars... I really want to meet this girl now. When will she get back from school?" Tomoe looked at a clock.

"She should be here any minute now. I would say she will be surprise to see you here." I chuckled as I heard the door open with my wolf hearing and a 'I'm home!' My ears twitched slightly as I heard footsteps towards the kitchen as a teenage human girl with chocolate colored hair and eyes came in. Tomoe and Mizuki greeted her cheerfully while her eyes widen in shock at me. I smirked slightly and did a small bow.

"Hello new land God. It is a pleasure to meet who Mikage picked to be here instead of him. I am Suki, goddess of courage and I live in the shrine across town. These are my shrine spirits, I have no familiar unfortunately, I haven't found the right person for that job. Don't worry, I shall not test you like other gods may of have done. I just want to ask you a few questions." She nodded and put on a brave face. Good, seems like she has a large amount of courage in her from what I can tell. She probably has stood up against many gods who question her abilities because of her race. I should know, they did the same to me five hundred years ago, when I was brought into this world as a wolf demon god. Usually, gods do not have a race but I was a special case. I was born as a wolf demon to show others that my kind isn't bad just because of their abilities. Mikage was my first friend, other than Yui and Yuki of course, and I made friends with many of the others. I have never had a familiar either, I just haven't found the right demon for the job. It's a very delicate procedure since I am of a race. Many demons don't like Wolf demons, so that makes it even harder. I also want someone who isn't too serious at being a familiar.

We walked into the living room and sat across from each other.

"So, how did you become a Kami?" She explained the story of how she saved Mikage from a dog, then the rest of the stuff that has happened while she has been a Kami. I sweatdropped. How is it, that he hates dogs, but is just fine with wolves, who are the ancestors of dogs. He always was weird.

"That is about it. Anything else?" I nodded and smiled.

"I already kinda accepted you when I saw you, you have a bunch of courage inside you. Anyways, one more thing, Wanna be kami friends?" She gleamed and nodded. I check my cellphone, something I got a while back and Mikage has one too, for messages from him but saw none. I growled under my breath at the thing.

"I'm usually in touch with Mikage so if you want, next time I see him I can tell him to come see you." She nodded.

"Thank you! I want to ask him a few things." I nodded and looked outside.

"It's getting dark and I suspect you get unexpected godly guest often. I don't want them to know I'm back yet. A lot of them would probably kill me, or bring me to the others. I'm planning on going to the next meeting and announce then that I'm back. I have been gone for a hundred years after all." Nanami's eyes widen.

"Why?" I shrugged and poked one of my ears.

"Learning about my race. We are the only gods who aren't neutral in race. I am suppose to symbolize wolf demons, who are well hated in the demon world and by many gods." I waved goodbye and grabbed Yui and Yuki.

"Bye Suki-chan!" I waved goodbye and made a cloud before my shrine spirits and I went back to our shrine. The three of us played around for a couple of hours after that before going to bed. They cuddled into my chest as I laid snug under my covers. Soon, I fell into a dreamless sleep.

- the next day -

"Ow ow ow ow Ouch! Otohiko! Let go of my ear!" He pulled me out of my bed by my ear and was heading towards the door of my shrine. How the hell did he know I was home? Wait, Damn it! I forgot to tell Nanami not to tell the gods I was home didn't I?! Shit! He pulled me to the door before stopping to let my ear go and glare at me. I winced. I had been good friends before I had disappeared. Only Mikage knew where I had gone and I had him keep it that way, knowing that a lot of them would act like this. Ok, scratch that, only Otohiko would start crying. Mostly for the fact that he acts like a girl and we were best friends and I probably really hurt him disappearing like that. Oh hell, I know I hurt him leaving like that and not telling him where. The only reason I told Mikage was because he is like a brother to me.

"Where did you go girl?" I sighed and leaned on the doorway.

"To find out about my kind. You know I'm different. I always have been. I wanted to know more about wolf demons and I know all the stuff I will get from you and the others are either stuff I know or lies. I couldn't tell anyone because they would try to stop me. Mikage knew but I told him not to say anything. I'm sorry Otohiko. If it makes you feel better, I'll listen to you about all of your crushes." He smirked at the last part and hit me on the head, making me clutch it in mock pain.

"That's for leaving for so long. Now, you should have this guy!..." I'm gonna die here, why did I say that?
