As I uncovered my eyes, I saw my new shikagami. It had bright blue hair and matching colored eyes. She was the size of a five year old human child and wore a wolf mask that was tied to the top of her head. She smiled at me.
"Hello! I'm your new shikagami!" I smiled at her.
"I'm Suki! I'm so glad you finally hatched out of your egg!" The shikagami nodded as she sat on her knees.
"I'm glad too!" I almost squealed at her cuteness.
"I'm going to name you Mamori, it's short for Mamorimasu, meaning protect. You've gotta protect me after all." 'Mamori' smile widen as she hopped around in joy.
"I've got a name! I've got a name! Hooray! Hooray!" I laughed at her enthusiasm as Otohiko and Yui appeared.
I jumped up to greet them. "Look! Mamori, my shikagami, hatched finally!" Otohiko looked at her jumping around happily and squealed at her. He went to her and squeezed her tight.
"She's so cute! I can't believe you had such a cute shikagami hatch from your egg!" I crossed my arms at him.
"Excuse me? What was that?" He laughed nervously.
"Nothing~!" I rolled my eyes and pried Mamori from his arms before he killed her.
"You are no longer needed Otohiko. My adorable shikagami finally hatched. Thanks for coming by though." He pouted.
"Your so mean Suki-chan!" I shrugged at him.
"You almost strangled her with your hug. I have good reason to be mean. I didn't want to have to wait another ten days for her to hatch again and maybe be totally different." He sighed at my comment.
"Fine~. But only because she's so adorable that I wouldn't want that either. Bye bye Suki-chan! Bye bye Mamori! Take good care of her Suki-chan!" I nodded as he left. Mamori looked at me curiously.
"Who was that strange woman who squeezed me?" I laughed at her calling him a girl. Otohiko wouldn't have liked to hear that.
- time skip -
I had finally convinced Mamori to stay home while I was at school. She hadn't liked the idea, since she couldn't be around me, but I told her she could pick me up from school if she stayed out of sight if she did anything abnormal to humans.
Walking into the classroom, I was instantly assaulted by the voices of Kurama's fangirls. "At least I know he's here today." I went to go sit down beside Nanami when Kurama saw me.
"Oh Suki!" My eyebrow twitched in annoyance. I sat down at my desk and bang my head into it as he came over. Oh how I would love to give him some divine punishment right now, but with regular humans nearby I can't. Why me?
"Hi Suki! Hey Kurama-kun!" He smiled at us.
"Hello Nanami and Suki." I just waved from my spot with my head trying to hide in the desk, wanting nothing more than to disappear at this moment. However, Kurama couldn't take a hint.
"Why were you gone for so long Suki? I was wondering." I turned my head slightly to look at him with one eye.
"Family business." He nodded but didn't let up.
"What kind of business if you don't mind me asking?" I glared at him, hoping to scare him away if I glared hard enough.
"Out of town for my sister's school trip. She had to have someone come with her and my parents are away on a business trip." He seemed satisfied with my lie. I knew that he knew I was at my shrine. What is trying to do? Small talk me until I become his friend?
I sighed as I stood up and grabbed my stuff. "I'll be right back." I left and hid from sight as I made myself invisible to Kurama. He is too annoying to deal with today. As I walked back in, I noticed the teacher was coming. Kurama didn't see me so I knew this meant that the spell worked, as he was staring right at the door to watch for when I came in. This would work, as long as the teacher didn't call my name out other than during roll call.
- lunch -
I had made it through half the day without Kurama finding out about me being there. My ears and tail didn't appear either so I knew I did good. As long as I didn't use too much magic they wouldn't appear.
"Nanami? Are the others coming with us for lunch or no?" She shook her head.
"Kei and Ami are eating with some of their other friends today." I nodded as we walked to the roof. I didn't even notice that I had let down my vanishing spell until we made it to the roof to see Kurama waiting for us.
I cursed under my breath as he saw me. It was too good to be true I guess. He walked over to us and frowned.
"So, you vanished from me? One of the girls said you were there all of class." I groaned, I forgot about his fangirls.
"So what? You annoy me and I have no reason to like you, only reasons to hate you. You've been stalking me non-stop since I started going here and I'm tired of it. People don't like that, yokai, gods, or humans. I'm sorry that you don't like me not liking you but until you show me a reason to not hate you, I refuse to come near you." He seemed mad at this though. Well, he can be as mad as he wants to. I am not changing my mind.
"We'll see about that." He came closer to me and I backed up, eyeing him suspiciously.
"What do you think your doing-?!" My words got caught in my throat as his lips touched mine. Nanami gasped as my eyes widen. Why that jerk?! Kissing a god?! Who does he think he is?!
A golden light surrounded us and I pulled away from him, glaring at the jerk as the light faded. H-h-he just became my familiar?!
"Well then. Is becoming your familiar a good reason for you to like me?" That bastard!
