"Jesus Christ." Roman gasped as he got to the ship.
"No time, Princey." Virgil snapped. "Help me with this."
Virgil hit the button on the ceiling, his mind racing. He'd just done that. In front of someone else. And he's actually had a name for it. It wasn't this unnamed, unnatural thing anymore. It was the Force.
Holy shit, it was the Force!
"Princey, the hook." Virgil said, shaking some of the thoughts from his head. Roman jumped and grabbed the hook, handing it to Virgil.
"Virgil." He said in a warning tone of voice. Virgil didn't need it. He'd already seen the fighters.
"Yeah, we gotta move." He said. He threw the hook but his hands must have been shaking more than he realised because the throw was too short.
"Oh for God's sakes!" Roman snapped. He grabbed the rope off Virgil and threw the hook so it embedded in the landing slide. Virgil stared at him.
"Fast learner." He said before snatching the other hook up off the floor and attaching it to the lever quickly. Giving the lever a sharp tug, he barely stopped moving as the landing slide closed with a crunch.
"If I jump-start this with yar engine, d'ya think ya could fly her?" He asked Roman. Roman shrugged.
"I can fly so we'll see."
"As long as we don't crash through the uppers, we should be fine." Virgil said, more to himself than Roman as he snatched the engine from the floor. "It's gonna be a faulty join so get her off this rock as soon as ya can, kay?"
"Fine, fine, yeah." Roman said quickly. "Go!"
"Right, yeah." Virgil shook his head. "Pilot room's next left after engine room."
Janus looked up from his plans as he felt something change. He smirked slightly under his mask.
"Finally figured it out, huh?" He muttered. "Guess the next move will be to leave..." His smirk grew as he remembered. "You thought you'd be safe around Resistance?" He wondered. "Sweet." His smirk turned down into a grimace.
Where was Darth Mallious? He'd want to know about this too.
As if summoned, the door slid open and the Sith in question practically danced into the room.
"D'ya know what they're bettin' on back there?" He asked. His accent always made Janus wince.
"Not important." Janus said cuttingly, standing up.
"No, I think it is." Mallious said. "They're bettin' on who we're gonna kill next. So far, bets are'that ya're gonna choke Jens, Pips or F53-T. And then for me-"
"It's not important." Janus repeated. "We've got much more pressing matters."
Mallious must have noticed the change in his tone. "What is it?" He asked. Finally, some sense!
"There's been a change." Janus said. "T-3.5 is no longer safe."
"Why's'that important?"
Janus rolled his eyes under his mask. "Because T-3.5 is a safe-haven for the Resistance." He clasped his hands behind his back. "We'll be able to hit them where it hurts."
"Yeah but if ya know this, why haven't we done this before?" Mallious asked. Janus winced. Always with the questions...
"Because I only found out now." Janus lied smoothly. He pulled his gloves down over his wrists, the material squeaking. "An alignment in the Force, that's all."
Mallious clapped his hands excitedly, apparently buying the answer. "I'll tell the captain." He said. He turned to go.
"Wait." Janus said. Mallious paused. "How is building going?"
Mallious shrugged. "They still haven't decided on a plan." He said. "It's really annoyin'."
"Who was the head of architecture?"
"F53-T." Mallious said, a smirk creeping into his voice. Janus cracked his knuckles.
"That was who people bet on, wasn't it?" He asked. "Time to win someone some credits."
Virgil winced and scratched the side of his nose. It was stinging more than usual. Something hit the side of the ship and jolted him sideways.
"Parkin' in an asteroid field was not the best idea." Virgil thought, shaking his head.
"Virgil?!" Roman asked, his voice wavery and panicked. "How're we doing down there?"
"Close, nearly got it!" Virgil reported. "I've hooked the engine up to the main-frame and'that should be enough to get us outa here."
"Great." Roman said. "Cause we need to go."
"Why?"
"There's an X-Wing on our tail."
