Chapter 1

It's weird how time changes things. In the span of twelve months, I made two life-long friends, fell back in love, went to my cousin's wedding, had countless arguments with my family, lost touch with most of my family and finally restarting university. Oh, I also forgot. I'm also moving into a flat with my boyfriend, who I love.

I place the box next to the bed. It's quite heavy to be honest. It only has clothes in though. I rub my hands on my jeans with a huge sigh. I'm no longer in the dorms or even on campus. I found somewhere a lot cheaper.

I hear a box being placed close by and arms wrap around my waist, "Are you really that tired already?" I lean back into his chest feeling relaxed.

"No. That box was just a little bit heavy is all," I say. I feel the chuckles vibrate from him. I tilt my head up so I'm now looking into those blue green eyes that I love so much. They hold a hint of humour and love in them.

"Of course, it did. I think you put the whole of your wardrobe in there," he says with a smirk on his face.

I roll my eyes at him. "I don't have a whole wardrobe remember. I had half of yours." I remind him.

"Plus a few draws. And a suitcase," He adds. I just give him and innocent smile. He shakes his head at me. "You're lucky I love you enough to give up so much space."

I whack his arm and squeeze out of his arms. I fold my arms across my chest and put a pout on my face. "For that comment you can bring the rest of the boxes up."

He laughs at me, "Sure, if you start unpacking." I nod my head and move over to the box I just put down. I hear him walk out so I continue unpacking.

After a good few hours, we finally manage to get everything unpacked. I'm now in the kitchen cooking some spaghetti and tomato source. Corey wraps his arms around my waist and rests his head on my shoulder watching me cook.

"It smells delicious shortcake," he says.

I let out a small laugh, "everything either came out of a bag or a pot so I can't really take credit for it."

"Well, you still manage to put it together, so you get some credit," he says. He kisses my cheek before heading over to the cupboard to get out two bowls. We plate up just as the door knocks. I look at Corey, who makes no notion to move, then I go open the door.

"What are you doing here?" the person says with a sharp tone. They shove past me. I take a deep breath before slamming the front door.

I head into the kitchen and pick up my food while our uninvited guest sits opposite a very frustrated Corey. I take a seat next to Corey and eat in a very awkward silence.

Corey glances at me before turning to our guest, "what's up Jonah?"

Jonah folds his arms across his chest while glaring at me, "better question why is she here?"

I roll my eyes before turning to Corey, "I'll go eat in the living room while you two talk. Don't kill him." He tries to protest but I'm already in the living room doorway before he can. I make sure I can hear that conversation though.

"I came to see if you'd reconsider what we spoke about before. I really don't like her. I honestly don't get what you see in her other than her looks," Jonah huffs out.

"Jonah, I'd tread carefully. If you actually got to know her like everyone else has then you'd know that she's actually likeable. She's kind, sweet, determined and considerate. She would actually walk away if she thought that I wanted friends who don't want her around. We've been through it before, and it honestly broke us both. Try to get to know her," Corey answers.

It takes everything in me not to rush in there and kiss the living daylights out of him. I wait for Jonah's reply, but it doesn't come. Instead, I hear the sound of a chair being pulled out and footsteps heading towards this room. I quickly pull up my phone and scroll through Instagram.

"Clara," Jonah says making me look at him confused. "You win."

"Win what? I have no clue what you're on about Jonah," I reply glancing at Corey who's in the doorway.

"Corey, he obviously loves you a lot if he wants to put you before keeping years worth of friendships," He sighs turning to walk out.

"Jonah wait," I say standing up. "I don't want to be put before friends. I don't want Corey to choose between me and his friends. I never have. I know Mrs H told you briefly about our past. The reason Corey ended it was because he wanted to stop people tormenting me for helping him out. His friends kept spreading rumours between our two schools. This ultimately led him choosing his friends. Ever since we were young, he's had a need to protect me, and it usually leads him doing stupid shit."

"Hey. I don't do stupid shit," Corey says from the doorway. Jonah looks at us trying to gauge where I'm going with this.

"You do. Anyway, I'm getting of track. Jonah, you are not like them at all. Yes, you sometimes act like a dick but you're an overall nice guy. That's why there was never a competition between us. He wouldn't choose between us. Even through all this he still considers you a friend," I say.

Jonah shakes his head at me, "yeah right. You're only saying this because you got Corey in the end."

I turn to Corey. He can read my face instantly. Corey comes over and wraps me in a hug, "thank you for trying shortcake."

Jonah scoffs, "next thing you know she'll be living here instead of lunch breaks."

I tense as Corey rubs my back soothingly. Corey lets go of me but keeps one arm around me, holding me next to him. "She already has Jonah. We spent the whole summer in the same house so obviously we decided to move in together permanently."

He turns to glare at me, "you've only just come into his life, and you've already made yourself a permanent fixture."

Corey lets out a small chuckle, "Jonah she's been in my life since we were both new-born babies. Our dads are best friends. Just because we weren't in touch when I met you guys doesn't mean she wasn't in my life."

Jonah scoffs not lifting his glare of me. "Honestly, Jonah, I've done nothing to you, yet you hate me. You claim I've taken Corey from you, but you've done that by this childish behaviour. If you could actually tolerate me, we wouldn't have all this drama."

"Whatever, just know she's cost you more then she's worth," Jonah says storming out and slamming our front door. I jump a little at the sound before hugging Corey again. He holds me tightly and I know this hurts him more then he's willing to admit.

My phone ringing breaks us apart. I see it's Harmony then pick up the phone. Before I can great her, her voice strained voice comes through the phone. "Clara, I need you to come over quick. Our parents are driving us mad. They want the wedding this summer. Please hurry. Mom just wait I've got the chief bridesmaid coming." She hangs up and with one look at Corey we grab the keys and rush over.

Time to meet the Love's and Ellis's.
