I've never seen people as bad. I always thought that everyone had a reason for doing something bad. Every ounce of that thought was diminished when my village was set ablaze. I was 16 at the time. My mother told me to run as far as I could and hide with my village's prized possession. It was a brown dragon egg with a green vine-like pattern. My people were once dragon tamers, but the dragons were chased out by King Enji 13 years ago. This egg was found a few weeks ago by my father, so the village elders assigned my family to take care of it. Now, hidden in a cave with a one year old dragonette, I try to figure out how to find the dragons we lost so long ago. Just over a year of traveling around the continent and I've found nothing.
"What do you think we should do Ryoko?" I asked the little dragonette at my side.
"Grrrup!" She piped up.
"Am I supposed to know what that means?" I giggled, patting her green head.
I looked down at the map sprawled across the cave floor with lines going every which way.
"At this rate I'm not going to find a thing…" I sighed and folded up the map, putting it in my bag.
“come on Ryoko" I called using the old dragon language that my people were taught when they formed the alliance with them.
The dragonette hopped into my bag as I grabbed it and stood up. I walked out of the cave into the green tinged morning light.
"Let's continue our-" I was cut off by the sound of a roar.
I saw Ryoko poke her head out of my bag but I gently pushed it back in as I made my way through the forest towards the sound.
