24 - Goodbye

    A lot has happened since the final battle, even though it's only been a few days. I couldn't handle being the new guardian of the miracle box, so I handed it to Alya. She's always been a huge fan of the heroes, and she knows more than anyone, so I couldn't see anyone being a more responsible guardian, not even myself. I kept the butterfly and peacock miraculous as trophies, and Master Fu moved away. He told us he was always available for questions about being the guardian, but he wanted to live the rest of his life with someone from his past. After the fight, Adrien was brought to the hospital. I wasn't allowed to see him for a while, but as crazy as it seems, I'm talking to him now, we could finally be happy.

"You know Adrien, I'm so glad that you're okay. I love you."

    I went to put my hand on his cheek, but as I touched his cheek, I was quickly reminded of what he was.

"I love you. But this isn't right."

     As I snapped and called back what I had created, he faded away, and I was reminded that he was only a sentimonster, something I had created to cope. I took off the peacock miraculous and held it in my gently closed hand.

    I felt a tear fall from my eye as I saw Adrien's grave come back into view. I was the only person in the cemetery, which only made me feel worse. I was the only person here for Adrien. For Chat Noir. As much as I wanted to create another sentimonster, I knew I shouldn't. I felt my hand tense up. I shouldn't be here anymore.

"Who knows Adrien, maybe in another life, we'll meet each other as strangers... strangers that know each other a little far too well."

I shouldn't stay at his grave any longer. I can't stay at his grave any longer. My heart couldn't bear it. I got up from his grave as I gripped the butterfly and peacock miraculous in my hand. And just like that, in those very few seconds, I finally understood Hawkmoth.
