My vision became blurred as tears built up in my eyes. I ran out the door.
"Way to go Matt," I heard Carly yell as she came after me. I stopped in fromt of the car putting my head in my hands.
"That was so embarassing," I sobbed. She put her arms around me.
"It'll be okay. These people are wasted and probably won't remember. It's not even your fault, so don't worry about it." I realized I was making a big deal out of nothing.
"Alright, Im okay. Can we just go?"
"Yeah that party was dumb anyway," she sighed and we got in her car. She dropped me off at my house and I went straight to my bed and fell asleep after a long night.
I woke up to a call from Carly, and just let it ring. Once it stopped I checked my phone to see it was already 1:30, holy crap. I didn't feel like speaking to anyone or doing anything today, so I just stayed in bed all day watching movies. Carly kept calling and texting trying to get my attention, knowing what mood I was in. Finally, at 5 I had caved and answered her call to get her to shut up.
"Thanks for finally answering," she said sarcastically.
"Yeah whatever, whats up?"
"Kelly's having a few people over.." she said.
"No, you know I hate that kinda stuff."
"Oh come on Alana!! You have got to start doing stuff again and if this has anything to do with last night then thats ridiculous," Carly exclaimed.
"I'm over that. I'm still getting over everything else Carly. I've let you drag me to stuff the last few months to please you, but I'm tired of going out anymore."
"Lane, I know it's been hard for you the past 8 months but you need to start attempting to move on and be happy. You can't keep living like this," she tried to reason with me. I didn't feel like arguing with her, so I gave in.
"This is it, if tonight goes bad then it's a sign that I shouldn't be going out," I announced on the phone.
"Be ready at 7, I'll pick you up and dress cute," she squealed before I could even take a breath or change my mind. After we hung up I took a quick shower and put on makeup and stuff. I looked through my closet to decide what to wear. I decided with just leggings and boots with a cami and cardigan, it's only a couple people so it doesn't really matter. We pulled up to Kelly's and it was packed. "What the fuck, Carly you said a few people!?"
"Sorry but I had to get you out somehow!"
"I'm going to kill you." I said as we walked towards the front door.
I didn't feel like drinking or for that matter even being here, so I started walking around the house exploring. Kelly's house was massive, there were so many rooms. I came to what seemed to be a balcony. I stepped outside to see a breathtaking view of a lake and the stars in the sky. For awhile I stood there deep in thought, thinking about everything I've had to go through when I heard the door open.
"Oh sorry, I didn't know anyone was out here," they said.
"It's fine," I said as he stepped closer to me and I could see what he looked like.
He had brown hair and brown eyes that could put you in a daze. He was kinda tall and had a few cute little freckles on his face. He looked familiar.
"How come you're not in there partying?" he asked joining me to look at the view.
"I could be asking you the same thing," I said.
"Not in the mood tonight, too much to think about."
"Actually same," I smiled at him. He gave me a small smile back before returning his attention back to off the balcony.
"And I'm still recovering from last night," he chuckled.
"Wait you were at Tyler's last night?" I asked.
"Yeah, you were too?"
"Haha, yeah I- Wait you're the one that got in the fight with Tony" I said realizing why he looked so familiar. He rubbed the back of his and looked at the ground and laughed.
"Yep thats me," he said looking me in the eyes. His laugh was contagious and we both laughed for a second. I saw the recognition suddenly in his eyes and his face go serious. "Oh my god, you're the girl. I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to, I felt horrible," he said panicking and rambling on.
"It's okay, no big deal," I said, "as long as you kicked Tony's ass. I never really liked him that much."
"Oh trust me, I did," he said getting all confident. I laughed and told him good job. Our laughter died down and there was an awkward silence.
"Do you wanna get out of here and go somewhere with me?" he asked.
"I barely know you," I said bluntly.
"Well I know I owe for last night and that we both want to get out of here," he said with hopeful eyes.
"Alright sure," I said without even thinking. Before I knew it we were inside his car leaving the party. I got out my phone to text Carly and tell her that I left with..?
"Um wait whats your name?" I asked awkwardly and giggled.
"Matt," he said looking at me and giving me a smirk.
"Oh right, I'm-"
"Alana," he answered before I could say it.
"How did you know?" I couldn't believe he knew me.
"How could I not? We go to the same school and I've seen you in the hallways.. and you're stunning. Who wouldn't notice a beautiful girl like you," he said keeping his eyes on the road. I looked out the window and blushed."So tell me about yourself," he said stuffing fries in his mouth at McDonalds.
"Not much to tell," I said sipping on my soda.
"Cmon you said earlier you were out there thinking. What about?"
"I've been going through a lot," I admitted.
"Tell Doctor Matt," he said holding his hand to his ear to show he's listening. I laughed.
"I don't really like to talk about it," I said.
"Ah, a lady that keeps her guard up. I like a challenge," he said smirking.
"I don't let very many people in. No one can be trusted and is loyal. People don't care about me anyway," I said taking a few fries.
"I do," he said looking me in the eyes. No ones ever cared about me before why should this guy.
"You don't know me at all."
"I'd like to." I tried to change the subject.
"What about you? What were you thinking about?"
"A lot," he said.
"Like what?" I asked. We got interupted by his phone ringing. He answered and soon hung up.
"I gotta go, I'll take you home," he said.
"Oh okay," I said as he was already heading towards the door. He seemed different, I wonder who was on the phone or what happened. We quickly got in the car and before I knew it after telling him a few directions we were at the apartment complex.
"Um thanks for tonight, it was fun," I said. It actually was. I hadn't actually enjoyed myself and laughed in so long like I had tonight.
"Yeah it was," he said looking over at me. We sat there in silence for a second.
"Well you gotta go, bye," I said as I opened the door and stepped out. He grabbed my hand and I faced him.
"Wait Alana, I'll see you at school?" he gave me a small smile. I told him he would and I closed the door and went inside. I closed the front door and put my back against it smiling to myself. I was already anxious to see Matt on Monday.
